And it seems upone me fate has smiled

For today, I am getting my heart's desire.

So I sing, my voice soaring higher."

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"I've studied and practiced, working so hard

Learned from Masters to be a good Bard

So now that my wish has come true,

I stand here to sing for you."

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"Majesty, I offer you a serenade

Not much for money, my song is my trade.

      It may not be gold,

but it's the best I have to give

For music is how I live."

Espritia takes a deep breath, closing her eyes as she draws deep, rich notes from her violin.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"I've traveled and fought to sing here today

Brawled with trolls, and slew other prey.

Struggled with words to get the song right

Tangled with chords to make the tune bright."

Espritia tenderly draws the bow against the strings of the violin.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"Now tis my job to make the Prince smile

Amuse and entertain him in full Bardic style

And perhaps, if he is pleased with my song

He'll allow me to sing again before long."

Espritia grins hopefully at Vorclaf.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"Majesty, I offer you a serenade

Not much for money, my song is my trade.

      It may not be gold,

For music is how I live."

Espritia plays a bridge into a new melody line: fast, fierce and furious.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

    "Warrior forged in flames

      Tempered in water

His battle cry rings through the air

      Feet pounding the earth

      to vanquish his enemies."

Espritia plays a fierce battle song on her violin, intermixed with sorrowful lines.

Espritia inhales deeply, preparing to sing in full voice.

Espritia firmly sings in an alto voice:

    "The warrior's heart will pound

      And his soul will burn

      His sword will sing

      And his foes will turn!"

Espritia brings the melody to a frantic pitch, as if a battle is turning.

Espritia plays a fierce tune on her violin, fingers dancing over the strings, until the battle played out in the music ends on a ringing triumphant note.

[back to Set List]

Tavern Trouper Chabelle just arrived.

Chabelle says, "This song is called "The Prince's Dilemma". by Chabelle D'Jhue."

Chabelle smiles mischievously as she places her violin under her chin. Pulling the bow across the strings, a playful tune emits over the area.

Chabelle playfully sings in a soprano voice:

"The Jester out of boldness said

To the Prince, "A kiss, if you please."

In turn, he reddened with the tease

And simply said, "Off with your head!""

(Chabelle ducks her head slightly as she continues with her playful ballad.)

Chabelle guardedly sings in a soprano voice:

"The guards kept watch to keep the right

     Honor held and crowd's delight.

The fool lay weeping in the night,

     The royal heart shut tight."

Chabelle excitedly sings in a soprano voice:

"They waited 'til the Sun had rays

     Shone on the shackled clown,

And all the subjects of the town

     Gathered for this day's arrays."

Chabelle smiles playfully as she pauses for a moment to wave her bow over the crowd.

Chabelle sternly sings in a soprano voice:

    "His majesty was holding court.

His love for folly did not report.

Around him, in a crystal fort,

     Sat Jurisprudence and Consort."

(Chabelle nods to Jurisprudence and Consort, standing by the wings of the stage. You could almost swear you hear a growling coming from them as they listen to the song.)

Chabelle harshly sings in a soprano voice:

    "How dare this lowly knave!

The Prince could never love such lowness!

And out of ignorance and slowness,

     Unknowingly the crowd behaved."

Chabelle mischievously sings in a soprano voice:

    "Then, finally, to Protest's groan,

And for grand love he must atone,

The Prince abdicated from the throne

And Jester took her secret lover home."

Chabelle smiles mischeviously as the last note fades away. She turns and gives Prince Vorclaf a little wink before exiting off the stage lest she get caught by his guards.

Xaphira clears her throat.

Xaphira recites:

"I've been asked to write a song in honor of the Prince.  Your Royal Highness, I hope you enjoy it...and take it in the spirit in which it is intended."

Xaphira winks.

Xaphira starts playing a slow rhythm on her castanets, humming a soft melody.

Xaphira mischievously sings in a soprano voice:

"What would I want with a Prince?

What would entice me to this?

To be dressed up and taken out

And bowed to when I'm about?

What would I want with a Prince?"

Xaphira motions towards Prince Vorclaf's seat.

Xaphira playfully sings in a soprano voice:

"Why would I want to be his?

     Why each sweet advance resist?

Why be doted on and fussed about

And quite the lady while here in town?

Why would I want to be his?"

Xaphira smiles oh-so-innocently.

Xaphira mischievously sings in a soprano voice:

"Why would I need this here Prince?

How can I so firmly insist?

Who needs finery and plats around

        And--"

Xaphira exclaims, "A horsie!"

Xaphira gazes dreamily off for a moment, then blushes, suddenly remembering where she is, and continues with a whispered "Apologies, your Highness..."

Xaphira emphatically sings in a soprano voice:

"...Who needs finery and plats around

        And o'erflowing vaults about?

Oh, why would I need this here Prince?"

Xaphira smiles and changes the tempo, swaying her hips with the rhythm, and adding a sly glance at the Prince.

Xaphira coyly sings in a soprano voice:

"And why should I care for a Prince?

What could a girl see in him?"

Xaphira gazes over the Prince with a playful smile and an appreciative look.

Xaphira closes her eyes and makes a sound of contentment that resembles purring in the back of her throat.

Xaphira blushes, seeming to just now remember the audience present.

Xaphira sheepishly says, "Erm...nevermind that..."

Xaphira playfully sings in a soprano voice:

"Oh, why should I care for...

        Why would I need this...

           Ohhh, what

             Would I want

               With a Prince!"

Ravenstorme smiles at Zazu.

Xanzie curtsies.

[back to Set List]

Zazu the Narrator approaches the front of the stage.  The scene is set of a darkened antechamber near the King's daybed. Curtains are draped against the cold stone to make the room look homely and royal. It also offers extra privacy against the echoing walls of the Hallway.

Zazu recites:

"I'd like to welcome you to our little skit for the opening ceremonies of Glythide's Faire.  We are taking a comic look at the day in the life of a noble King.  Come join us as the play unfolds.  I believe the actors are ready to begin."

Markhor adjusts his crown.

Zazu the Narrator nods to Dareth, the King's guard who is stationed at the door of the King's bedchamber. Many a fellow has attenpted to bother the King while he is in his chambers and therefore, no one shall pass.

(Markhor lies down behind the curtains so his feet are showing.)

Markhor lies down.

Zazu smiles at you as she tilts her head to listen to the shadows.  You hear a loud snoring from behind the curtains as the King rests peacfully.

You hear someone snoring.

(Ravenstorme the page comes running down the hallway with a soldier quickly in tow.)

Zazu the soldier attempts to calm down the frantic page.

Zazu says, "What has been done so far? Where are the troops? "

Zazu gazes at Ravenstorme.

Zazu snaps to attention and hails Dareth with a crisp hand salute.

Zazu comes out of her daydream to remember she is a Soldier of Zoluren.

Zazu nervously says, "Sir, we are massing at the gate. The archers are on the walls. The cauldrons have been set to boil. The Murder holes have been armed. "

Zazu snaps to attention and hails Dareth with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth snaps to attention and hails Zazu with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth calmly says, "This is a good start, soldier."

Zazu loudly exclaims, "The king must be told!"

Zazu nods to Dareth.

Zazu wrings her hands nervously.

Dareth matter-of-factly says, "The king is sleeping and has instructed no disruption."

Dareth matter-of-factly says, "The men know what to do. The setup is good. Keep me informed."

Zazu firmly exclaims, "Sir, yes, sir!"

(Dareth exhales slowly while shaking his head at the page)

Dareth sighs.

Dareth seems to be waiting for something.

(Ravenstorme the page walks up the hallway to the guard.)

Ravenstorme coughs.

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "Sir, the people are getting angry.  Seems the Army has taken off with the food supply and has left them with very little to feed themselves."

Dareth raises an eyebrow.

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "They are calling for the king to make a statement to say when they will get new food supplies in."

Dareth sighs.

Dareth firmly says, "I have been ordered no visitors to the king."

Ravenstorme nods.

Dareth patiently says, "Find a bored noble. Lord Crumbum would do, he's a humanitarian. Have him look into it."

Ravenstorme nods.

Ravenstorme snaps to attention and hails Dareth with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth snaps to attention and hails Ravenstorme with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth seems to be waiting for something.

(Ravenstorme the page returns again on the footheels of a stormy young woman of strange character.)

You hear someone snoring.

Daedra harshly says, "This is outragous. I am of royal blood. I can trace my lineage back to the sister of Queen Lleliellen after the Cataclysm that created the world! I will not be cast off by some page boy. I demand my due respect. "

Dareth rolls his eyes.

Ravenstorme shrugs.

Dareth calmly says, "M'Lady, the King is not available. And if I remember correctly, Queen Lliliellen's sister mated with a troll and therefore was cast out of the family lineage by order of the Queen."

Dareth calmly says, "You are a palace guard just like me and I am your superior and you will stand down and go back to your position."

Daedra emphatically exclaims, "But!"

Dareth sternly says, "and for god's sake, soldier, put some armor on. We were attacked not an annon ago and here you are prancing around like some school girl."

Daedra happily says, "But I'm off duty for the party! "

Dareth firmly says, "Please keep your voice down, for your head is at stake."

(Dareth the guard glances over his shoulder.)

You hear someone snoring.

Dareth quietly asks, "Then if you must go to the party, but keep your eye open for mischief. I charge you with this, guard. Do you understand?"

Daedra nods to Dareth.

Daedra snaps to attention and hails Dareth with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth says, "dae"

Dareth snaps to attention and hails Daedra with a crisp hand salute.

(Ravenstorme the page shrugs as he watches the lady guard walk away.)

Dareth chuckles.

Dareth guardedly asks, "Anything else happening?"

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "Sir, yes sir. The royals are gathering in the hall awaitting the party.  Lord Crumbum has officiated the distribution of food to the masses.  Mister Davenport has requested leave "

Ravenstorme inhales a great swallow of air.

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "to visit his aunt in the south.  I gave him leave and left a note with the tax assessor to check the land while he was out to get an accurate assessment of the property since he"

Ravenstorme inhales a great swallow of air.

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "wont let the taxers near his house.  The guard is on clean up duty at the gate, taking out garbage so to speak, the invaders have fallen back and are no longer in sight."

Ravenstorme pants.

Dareth confidently says, "The King thanks you page."

Ravenstorme snaps to attention and hails Dareth with a crisp hand salute.

Dareth snaps to attention and hails Ravenstorme with a crisp hand salute.

(Ravenstorme the page exits the room again .)

Dareth seems to be waiting for something.

Dareth shifts his weight.

(Ravenstorme the page scampers into the room! )

Ravenstorme pants.

Ravenstorme excitedly says, "Sir, the cook is demanding to see the king.  The Royals are taking over the kitchen to see what's goin on with the food for the party.  Lord Crumbum's gaurds are trying to take the stocks "

Ravenstorme excitedly exclaims, "to the gates for the people and the cook is threatening to quit!  Without his food we wont be able to have the party for the king's celebration!"

Ravenstorme flails his arms about.

Dareth emphatically asks, "The cook is being threatening?"

Ravenstorme firmly says, "Yes sir! "

Dareth emphatically says, "Fire him then. The King doesn't have to put up with that."

Ravenstorme nervously asks, "What about the food for the party Sir?"

Dareth ponders.

Dareth calmly says, "Go to the Migul's Catering shop and pick up some picnic baskets. We'll call it a picnic with the King. The guest's will love it."

Ravenstorme's face lights up with joy.

Ravenstorme's face lights up with joy.

(Ravenstorme the page leaves the guard alone again. )

You hear someone snoring.

Dareth seems to be waiting for something.

Dareth sighs.

(Ravenstorme the page walks in escorting two dancers. )

Xanzie the dancer hops into the room.

Espritia the dancer hops in the room.

Ravenstorme coyly says, "Sir, they'd like to know when the King is expected to arrive at the party.  They'ld like to perform for him and give him their blessing for joy in the future."

Xanzie does a backflip!

Espritia does a backflip!

Espritia's alto joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"We'd like to offer to you

Our blessings for your future joy

     And happiness to you

Dareth matter-of-factly says, "The royals were looking for an audience, you set up appointments for them all and took care of the little things, unfortunately you missed the party."

Markhor says matter-of-factly, "Oh, well, I DO like to keep good people around me, none of those slough offs."

Dareth firmly says, "Aye sire"

Markhor matter-of-factly asks, "Hire me a new cook and get me a sandwich from the party.  There are still leftovers, right?"

Dareth firmly says, "Aye sire"

Markhor cheerfully says, "Good.  Be gone, then.  I've had a busy day and I'd like to eat in my chambers and be alone after such a rigorous day."

Markhor rubs his hands together.

Daedra recites:

"Now here's a man who needs no introductions, but he likes to hear us talk about him so he's making us do it anyways.   Here he is folks, everyone's favorite bumblin' drunken idiot, that chronic bedwetter, the Duke of Debauchery, the Earl of Insobriety!  And that's just what his mother calls him.  Jeremy Galen Isembard Esquire and his songs from the village idiot!  Let's give it up for the "

Isembard gets a wren-engraved mandolin from inside his suede haversack.

Isembard moves a wren-engraved mandolin to his left hand.

[back to Set List]

Isembard says, "This one I call "What's in a Name?".  I wrote it to help explain why folks call me "Gale"."

Isembard happily sings in a tenor voice:

"I'm aimin' to clear up this confusion, I wanna set things straight,

Cuz' up 'til now the most oft-ask'd question I get of late

Is why do they call yer Gale? Who's that guy I don't see him in the room?

Well Gale is the name me friends use for me, yet I answer to Isembard too."

Isembard happily sings in a tenor voice:

"Most folks say: "Hey Isembard!" Well ya see Isembard's me family name,

We all have titles, we all have honorifics, and fer me its jus da same.

Some folks have nicknames, others an alias, A.K.A if'n ye hearin' me say,

Whate'er 'tis, whate'er 't does, as long as it keeps the loan collector away!"

Isembard winks.

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Glad ta Meetcha! How do ya do?! Well met friend! Do I know you?

I'm Jeremy Galen Isembard! Isembard Isimbard if you'd rather...

What's in a Name? Helps me shift the blame,

When the loan shark's man comes a lookin' fer me to maim!"

(Isembard saunters about the stage, shuffling about like some kind of kid on his first night away from his folks!)

Isembard happily sings in a tenor voice:

"Some of my friends, and others too persist, they ask me, others insist,

Yer to big fer yer britches with that big name like a list!

Well be that as it may, That is my name if I do say,

Me Mum and me Da both gave it to me on my birthday."

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Once when walking down a long hall of mirrors all hung,

Where decisions are made before any songs were sung...

I entered my name on the slate and what...was it taken by fate?

     Suddenly I couldn't be me?....Oh Great!"

(Isembard pauses and gasps dramatically!)

(Isembard sucks on his pinky finger like a dufus!)

Isembard says, "Yeah...like, whatevah."

(Isembard gestures dismissively at the thought.)

Isembard confidently exclaims, "I'll Keep my name forever!"

Isembard chortles softly at some secret joke.

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Glad ta Meetcha! How do ya do?! Well met friend! Do I know you?

I'm Jeremy Galen Isembard! Isembard Isimbard if you'd rather...

What's in a Moniker? You'll wanna be sure,

To duck out when the tax man's come in the door."

(Isembard skips about the stage like whimsical school-girl!)

Isembard snickers.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"So that's me story of how I got this handle, less I should dismantle,

Some day I'll hope not to have this nametag. Until that day I'll hold a candle.

I'll jus' keep 'splainin': I'm not who you think I'm just Galen!

I'll answer to either, but me friends call me Gale and do so without failin'"

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"But just keep in mind, that a fake name can sure help ya,

On down through history, Mages, Sorcerers n' Spies all will tell ya,

Seems like the worst sorts will hide their true name....

     Worst sorts did I say?"

Isembard covers his mouth with his hand.

Isembard shrugs.

Isembard teasingly says, "well maybe, but I'll A.K.A just the same...."

Isembard excitedly sings in a tenor voice:

    "I'll A.K.A just the same!"

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Glad ta Meetcha! How do ya do?! Well met friend! Do I know you?

I'm Jeremy Galen Isembard! Isembard Isimbard if you'd rather...

What's in a Nomme de Plume? Not much I assume,

But useful when the ex-wife's in the room!"

Isembard glances about with concern on his face.

Isembard smiles as he bows to his new friends, and ducks a bit of rotten cabbage from his new enemies.

Isembard grins.

Isembard bows.

Isembard says, "Thanks y'all."

[back to Set List]

Isembard says, "Now that yer know why folks be callin' me Gale,..."

Isembard teasingly asks, "What do you call it when the sun goes down on a sleepy little town called Isembard?"

Isembard seems to be waiting for something.

Isembard grins.

Isembard teasingly says, "Night-in-Gale."

Isembard chortles softly at some secret joke.

Isembard says, "I think you'll like this next'n"

Isembard says, "I writ it especially for this here shindig."

Isembard wryly says, "This is a tale 'bout how some of the time you find the nicest things right under yer nose."

Isembard exhales roughly through his mustache, causing it to flutter briefly before he reaches up and smooths it back down.

Isembard says, "I put this ditty together whilst I was in the lockup down south as you'll see from what's ter follow."

Isembard grins.

Isembard listens carefully to the wren-engraved mandolin, plucking the strings.

Isembard recites:

    ""The Ferdahl's Garden"."

Isembard holds his mandolin by its neck, beginning a quick series of cascading notes.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Wasn't that long ago, just this past summer...no 'twas early autumn,

Thought just occurred ter get outta me guild, to get up off me bottom."

Isembard blushingly indicates his flabby posterior.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Make me way down th' road, clear on down that ol' trade route,

Just a'goin' where da wind blows, a'wandrin' towards the south,"

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Through mountain passes and fields full o' grasses,

And on into a walled city, thought I'd sing for the masses."

Isembard turns a bit on the stage to face you, the light glinting off the face of his mandolin for a moment.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Folks there were dressed up summat strange, bizarre patterns brightly swirl'd,

Rainbow'd dyes mighty colourful, says I: "What in da world?"

Sandal-wearin' folk, with hair down to their toes,

A'foragin for weeds in ditches, and where'er they may grow."

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"I stopped a chap right there in the street, he a round spectacle-wearin' type,

He peered at me from over his specs, as I asked him "Wot's da hype?"

He lower'd his smoked lenses and held me in his curious gaze,

His eyes were red and glassy, and here's wot he says:"

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Folks may tell ya this and its no lie they're startin',

Ilithi's perfect clime 'tis great fer a greenthumb's talents ter sharpen!

There's some mighty fine foragin' along the ditches in Shard'n,

Nothing's quite so splendid as the weeds from the Ferdahl's garden!"

Isembard grins as his mandolin flashes with the light and hum of excitement in the air.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Well he griningly offered me this Princely Pipe,

Stuff'd all full o' weeds from da Ferdahl's garden.

I took me a draw of it all dubious-like,

TA~DA~ all my cares were forgotten!"

Isembard gets a prince pipe from inside his suede haversack.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"There's somethin' to this foragin' I found out,

And now could tell what all this here fashion's about,

Colors were a'swirlin' in front o' me eyes oddly,

And I could see there was no need fer puttin' on facades, nay."

Isembard rubs a prince pipe.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"I then sang "Nonny! Nonny! Ain't life bright n' jolly!"

     "Hey Derry!...Ho Diddle!...Dee Dee!

These weeds are delicious and leave me quite breathless,

I think I'll trade 'em outside Ilithi!"

Isembard gets a thoughtful expression on his face.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "Then I foraged n' gather'd all the long day though I'd rather'd,

Spent my time lazily on some barstool all hammer'd,

Still, try as I might not to, I still toked away,

And have done so ever since that fateful day,

     Singin'...."

Isembard droolingly stuffs some wild weed into the bowl of his Prince Pipe.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "And with yaks all bundle-laden,

     I headed for Shard's East Gate n'

Thought to peddle me weeds up north.

When out stepped an armor'd guard,

     Blockin' me from leaving Shard,

Sayin' I could nay sally forth!"

Isembard scratches his head.

Isembard slowly sings in a tenor voice:

"He starts yellin' at me, in his rainbow'd chain finery,

"That's contraband on yer yak!" and yull refrain kindly!

Stuffed me up in a cell, took all me fluff, well,

All 'cept me trusty pipe which he missed, should I tell?

Nay! So away I did puff, then did I feel well!

     Singin...."

Isembard gazes at his pipe.

Isembard cups his Prince Pipe in the palm of his hand as he strums away on his mandolin.

Isembard smiles crookedly.

Isembard regretfully sings in a tenor voice:

"I did me jail term, got out in th' spring,

Me beard was long n'scruffy, I'd lost my earring.

I was amazed as all about me the weeds did still grow!

And wot occured to me then amazed me moreso."

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"I looked at all them fellers foragin' in the garden,

One a th' mates handed me some clothes says: "beggin' yer pardon?"

"But you might want somethun ta be wearin' its still rather nippy...,

Once dressed I caught my reflection, realizin' I wuz a hippy!"

Isembard smirks.

Isembard wobbles, looking a bit faint.

Nothings quite so splendid as the weeds from the Ferdahl's garden!"

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"So that's my story of how I was enlighten'd then jail'd,

And fortunate I wuz that I had friends who came up with me bail.

For whilst 'tis great to partake of weeds kinda funny,

The sentence if'n yer caught be not less den four n' twenny!"

Isembard smiles then winces suddenly as a string breaks on his tortured mandolin.

Nothings quite so splendid as the weeds from the Ferdahl's garden!"

Isembard says, "sorry 'bout that one y'all...but I've got my wild-weed-support-group sessions regular-like now, so they say I'll be on the up-swing any day now..."

Isembard chortles softly at some secret joke.

Isembard bows.

[back to Set List]

Isembard says, "I call this "The Tragical Sonnet of the Maid and the Janitor.""

Isembard smiles.

Isembard recites:

"This is the tragical, but true, sonnet of a young maid that worked for a roof over her head, (and a very little coin), in the Manor of a certain Lord and Lady whose name we shall omit for her safety."

Isembard recites:

"This tale relates how this young maid loved a man we all despise, known only to us as:..."The Janitor"."

Isembard gasps!

Isembard recites:

"This tale relates how their great affair was cut tragically short. "

Isembard recites:

"How these two did meet? I've never learned...

But I'll relay to you now how their courtship did met its end. "

Isembard recites:

"I wish it were not so, but not all tales have a happy ending, and this one is no exception."

Isembard moves to the center of the stage where a pinpoint of light centers on him as he begins to sing in a quiet voice.

Isembard quietly sings in a tenor voice:

    "From this stage,

     I hear laughter...

     Merrymaking,

     And champagne glasses.""

Isembard puts his pipe in his suede haversack.

Isembard cups his hand to his ear and bends to his left, listening...

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "But not far away,

     Just out of earshot,

     Someone is crying.

     She's scrubbing troll skins,

     While's he's sweeping kitchens.

     It'll be a long night,

     For young lovers.""

Isembard observes Xanzie who is suddenly revealed near him on the stage by a sliver of light that's just appeared.

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"Each night she'd yearn to spy him out her drawing room portico."

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Every night he'd steal away to visit as the moons would appear.""

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"But it's quite late when he'd done with his sweeping..."

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"And the Lady of her manor's always early sleeping.."

Xanzie moves forward on the stage singing in a strained voice as the light around her swells.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "A maiden's heart that's never been broken,

Hold's so much trust and will dare any trial.

He'd once given her a kerchief as a token,

She'd kept it with her all the while."

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Doubt it not when you hear they've planned a meeting,

They'd steal away upon the dark of nightfall.

A secret rendezvous to assuage their heart's yearnings.

A peaceful time they'd love to recall."

Xanzie turns to watch Gale as he approaches her to share the growing light on the stage as their voices join  in chorus.

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Every night he'd dreamed of this as he'd pushed his broomstick..."

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"And every night she's stolen thoughts of him outside..."

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"Were it not for her hope of this clandestined meeting..."

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"Well surely then they'd both had rather to have died..."

Xanzie begins to weep softly.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"Some of you know it's a road,

     From Riverhaven to Crossing,

Many've trodden this upon their own."

Isembard darkly sings in a tenor voice:

"But for a young and naive maiden,

In her fine housecoats and silken dressing,

Draws undue attention from the worst kind."

Isembard sadly sings in a tenor voice:

"And so it was she asked directions,

From the wrong highwayman upon her course.

He was also fond of a fair lady's affections,

And took her off with him upon his horse!"

Isembard gazes sadly at Xanzie.

Xanzie painfully sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"But upon the spot of trouble,

     She'd left her kerchief.

Upon the road, amidst the rubble,

So he'd know that they're been mischief"

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

"At the scene she'd left her token..."

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"He'd see the sign and though heartbroken,"

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"He'd find the way to his Maiden's side."

Isembard's tenor joins with Xanzie's mezzo-soprano as she sings:

    "And once again they'd re-unite."

Isembard sadly sings in a tenor voice:

"Or would have done if not for thing,

I fear the timing of roomsweeps are set,

So that there's not too much time passing,

For any one room to clutter yet."

Isembard sadly sings in a tenor voice:

"So it was the Janitor came down from Haven,

But did not find his bride-to-be,...

He did not find the kerchief he had gaven,

Cruelly he was foiled by another janitor just like he.""

Isembard smiles crookedly.

Xanzie snickers.

Isembard indicates Xanzie with a warm smile as she bows.

Xanzie bows.

Isembard bows.

The janitor just arrived.

Isembard exclaims, "Xanzie Nikatime y'all!"

The janitor waves to Isembard.

Isembard grins.

The janitor waves.

Isembard smiles at the janitor.

Isembard waves.

Isembard chortles softly at some secret joke.

The janitor sweeps up around the area.

Xanzie grins.

Isembard says, "I've just one more for y'all, then I'm outta here."

The janitor gets your favorite item out of his backpack.

The janitor asks, "You missing this?"

Isembard says, "Not yet"

Isembard says, "now I am."

The janitor grins.

The janitor waves.

The janitor just went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Xanzie clears her throat.

Xanzie glances at some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

Isembard recites:

"This song I call "My Therengian Fancy", or "an Ode to the Road"."

Isembard hefts his care-worn mandolin and begins to pluck out the bouncy opening notes of a jaunty sonnet.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "By-ways lead to secluded groves,

     And fields careful-tended with spades.

Roadways all cross rivers and streams,

And mounts crown'd all in haze.

I to these will always go,

     Upon yon northern route.

I'll come upon not a single soul,

     That I'd not sing about."

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "A Walker I, upon Life's Road.

     I'll wander this tangl'd course.

A Sailor upon the Seas of Fate,

     And protector of sacred lore.

There's no burden to this wanderlust,

     Nothing I am searching for.

Yet dally now not here with me,

     Use caution evermore..."

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"As ye walk upon these sallow'd fields,

All cloak'd in lucid fresh and snow...

Dally now not near me love,

For now I've got to go."

Isembard strums up the tune on his poor mandolin, pulling on the strings fiercely to bring about a rapid change in the time signature.

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

"The course of life is o'erwrought,

With sharp bends, turns and folds.

Though to most it seems that which is sought,

     Great riches, jewels, wealth untold!

If you'd ask me all this means naught,

     These vaults o'erflowin' with gold.

What price to put on liberty bought?

     What coin for freedom sold?"

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"As ye stroll the darkened glades of green,

     All mantl'd in bowers sweet...

     Dally now not o'erlong,

For me? I'll take my leave!"

Isembard strums down the melody down to a quiet rhythm as he leans forward and sings quietly.

Isembard studies the faces around him.

Isembard quietly sings in a tenor voice:

"I'll name to thee a price beyond all measure,

Beyond all finery and works of art.

With her my dalliance it was a pleasure,

For her key unlock'd my heart,

     Though forbidden by divinely censure,

     I fear we're destin'd to be apart.

Alas! I'll not here abide at leisure,

Alack! From here i'll soon depart!"

Isembard strums up the melody on his battered mandolin once more to resume the jaunty pace of the ballad.

Xanzie's mezzo-soprano joins with Isembard's tenor as he sings:

"I'll be a'wander these backwood ways,

All armor'd 'n dew and mist...

Dally not will I till the last of my days,

     The road I can't resist!"

Isembard sings in a tenor voice:

    "A Player I, on life's grand stage,

I'll be at the last curtain call.

A battle too, it seems we wage,

To take arms and not to fall.

There's no burden to this wanderlust,

     Nothing I am searching for,

Yet dally now not here my love,

There's much more yet in store!"

Isembard smiles as he glances up at you from his mandolin, bowing forward as the echoing refrain fades.

Isembard beams!

Isembard says, "Thanks agin' ya'll"

Xanzie beams at Isembard!

Isembard puts his mandolin in his suede haversack.

Inscribed in our hearts and that place up above."

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"Seemingly fragile....your thorns do you bear

For beasts who'd attack you without any care

They'd  find  a sting...a pain that might bleed

Though gentle your beauty, you'd defend if in need."

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

Who would be first to learn some Target"

Anguilla smiles.

Anguilla cheerfully sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"A race, then!  'Tween her and me!

I was ecstatic, brimming with glee!"

Anguilla beams!

Anguilla excitedly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Which of us would first get to ten?

And, should one win, what then?"

Anguilla nervously sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"What was at risk?  What was at stake?

If one should lose, what would it take?"

Anguilla frets.

Anguilla darkly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"A song to the winner, by the poor soul

Who did not keep pace when reaching the goal!"

Anguilla glances about with a blank look on her face.

Anguilla nervously sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Though I'd a head start (by a point and a half)

She was better by far when it came to a class"

    "I feared she'd o'ertake me, give me a pass

Even out-learn this fitful young lass"

Anguilla shivers with fear.

Anguilla hopelessly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Unable to practice, I hit the books

Hung out with Mages, put up with their looks

       (And their familiars!)"

Anguilla meekly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"I was learning so slowly!  How could this be?

"For two days straight I studied real hard

     This scared little lavender-clad Bard"

Had I done it?  Had I won, pulled ahead?"

Anguilla smiles.

Anguilla cheerfully sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"I did it!  I broke the mark, I hit ten!

I called around for Tahatia then"

Anguilla gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Anguilla patiently sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"It took me two days to find my competitor

"Did you get to ten?" I calmly then asked her"

Anguilla smiles.

Anguilla sheepishly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

""No I did not," she said on the spot

"To tell you the truth, I just plain forgot!""

Anguilla weakly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"To hear this from her, my heart it felt fried

I'd studied my butt off, and she hadn't tried?"

Anguilla blinks.

Anguilla matter-of-factly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"The moral of this tale, if you care to listen:

Don't make a bet you don't want to win"

Anguilla smugly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"But the truth, you can't deny, is terribly strong..."

(Anguilla grins mischievously...)

Anguilla recites:

"Tahatia, you owe me one song!"

Chabelle says, "Ah, much better."

Chabelle smiles softly as the crowd settles down. She carefully withdraws her violin and bow from her satchel and looks out towards the audience.

Chabelle smiles happily as the torches flicker across the stage, brightening the entire area.

Chabelle asks, "Have you ever thought about the beggar who lives in this town?"

Chabelle angles her ears forward in curiosity.

Chabelle says, "Now I have to admit, that at first I thought it quite strange that a town such as Crossings would have its own beggar. Why would anyone want to be a beggar when there is so much out there that a person can do. "

Chabelle shrugs.

Chabelle says, "The more I thought about it, the more it started making sense. And now I'll tell you....."

Chabelle smiles softly.

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"Of all the guilds in Elanthia,

     A-beggin' is the best

     For when a beggar's tired,

You can lay him down to rest."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

    "And a-begging we will go,

     A-begging we will go-o-o."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

    "I've a poke for me ma'le

     And another for me rye

I've a bottle by me side,

To drink when I am dry."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"I got patches on me cloak,

And black patch on me knee.

When you come to take me home,

I'll drink as well as thee."

Chabelle nods.

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

    "And a-begging we will go,

     A-begging we will go-o-o."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"I got a pocket for me salt

     And another for me malt

I got a pair of little crutches,

You should see how I can halt."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"I sleep beneath an open tree,

And there I pay no rent.

     Crossings provides for me,

     And I am well content."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

    "And a-begging we will go,

     A-begging we will go-o-o."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"I fear no plots against me.

     I live an open cell.

Who would be a prince then

When beggars live so well. "

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"Of all the guilds in Elanthia,

     A-begging is the best.

     For when a beggar's tired,

You can lay him down to rest."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

    "And a-begging we will go,

     A-begging we will go-o-o."

Chabelle sings in a soprano voice:

"Of all the guilds in Elanthia,

     A-begging is the best.

     For when a beggar's tired,

You can lay him down to rest.

And here is where I rest."

Chabelle smiles brightly as she wraps a tattered blanket around her and gives a little curtsy, then boldly holds out a cup.

[back to Set List]

Chabelle smiles softly as she lets the audience quieten down.

Chabelle says, "Thank you. The words to my last song this day were written by a friend. After hearing the beautiful poem, I decided to bring the words to music."

Chabelle says, "I present to you, "If I only knew.""

Chabelle smiles softly as she glances around the room. She lays her head upon her violin and gently pulls the bow across, creating a soft melody to float around the room.

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"If I knew it would be the last time

That I'd see you fall asleep,

I would tuck you in more tightly

And pray the gods, your soul to keep."

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"If I knew it would be the last time

That I see you walk out the door,

I would give you a hug and kiss

And call you back for one more."

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"If I knew it would be the last time

I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,

I would memorize each action and word,

So I could remember them for all my days."

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"If I knew it would be the last time,

I could spare an extra andu

To stop and say "I love you,"

Instead of assuming you would know I do."

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"If I knew it would be the last time

I would be there to share your day,

Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,

So I can let just this one slip away."

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

    "For surely there's always tomorrow

To make up for an oversight,

And we always get a second chance

     To make everything just right."

Chabelle hesitantly asks, "Don't we?"

Chabelle slowly sings in a soprano voice:

"There will always be another day to say "I love you,"

And certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get,

I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget."

Chabelle smiles softly as she plays a slow ballad on her violin, her bow arching high above her head.

Chabelle recites:

"Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,

     Young or old alike,

And today may be the last chance

You get to hold your loved one tight."

Chabelle recites:

"So if you're waiting for tomorrow,

     Why not do it today?

     For if tomorrow never comes,

     You'll surely regret the day,"

Chabelle recites:

"That you didn't take that extra time

For a smile, a hug, or a kiss

And you were too busy to grant someone,

What turned out to be their one last wish."

Chabelle recites:

"So hold your loved ones close today,

     And whisper in their ear,

Tell them how much you love them

And that you'll always hold them dear"

Chabelle recites:

"Take time to say "I'm sorry,"

"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."

     And if tomorrow never comes,

You'll have no regrets about today."

Chabelle smiles softly as she continues her slow ballad on her violin, her bow arching high above her head.

Instead of assuming you would know I do.

     If I knew....

     If only I knew."

Chabelle smiles softly and bows her head in remembrance as the last note fades away and the torches dim almost to nothing.

Tavern Trouper Chabelle went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group just arrived.

(Zazu grins as she spins onto the stage.)

Dareth laughs at Zazu.

Zazu says, "Dareth, I have good news and bad news."

Dareth says, "your going to make yourself dizzy"

Zazu gazes at Dareth.

Dareth winces.

Zazu giggles at Dareth.

Dareth asks, "whats the good news?"

Zazu exclaims, "good news is, I found my songbook!"

Zazu smiles as the Apostles go wild.

Zazu gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Dareth beams at Zazu!

Dareth asks, "you did?"

Zazu nods to Dareth.

Dareth asks, "where was it?"

Zazu says, "I left it sitting next to Ishimmer in the back row"

Zazu's ears droop dejectedly as a look of melancholy crosses her face.

Dareth laughs!

Dareth says, "well thats a good place for it"

Zazu exclaims, "more good news!"

Zazu grins at Dareth.

Zazu exclaims, "Kortny is about!"

Dareth says, "oh I like good news"

Dareth asks, "about where?"

Zazu points at some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Dareth casually observes the area.

Zazu perks her ears up in delight.

Dareth asks, "ok so whats the bad news?"

Dareth peers quizzically at Zazu.

Zazu slowly empties her lungs.

Dareth rubs Zazu gently.

Zazu says, "well, the schedule is a lil, um, skew"

Dareth winces.

Zazu says, "so we are shuffling folks around"

Zazu smiles weakly at the audience.

Dareth shakes his head.

Dareth says, "well thats to be expected"

Dareth nods to Zazu.

Zazu says, "so, I'm gonna let you introduce the next performer, while I go backstage and get things together"

Dareth shivers.

Dareth says, "well ok"

Dareth smiles at Zazu.

Zazu says, "We'll sing for the the request before Kortny goes on"

(Zazu smiles brightly at you and spins off stage.)

Dareth chuckles.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Master of Ceremony Dareth just arrived.

(Dareth walks out onto the stage blinding the entire area as the torches gaze off of his gleaming silver-white plate. He blushes and smiles at you as he puts out a couple of the torches. It takes a moment for your vision to return but at least you can see.)

Dareth recites:

"Oh that was excellant Chabelle, she has some of the best songs in the land, give her a big round of applause. "

Dareth applauds.

Dareth recites:

"This evening is just going to get better as it goes on. Up next is the charming young Lilymae Lancoeskmar, she is a member of the Order of the White Rose, doing a speech about the great Lanival."

Dareth smiles and wave motioning to Lilymae. As he exits off the stage he relights the darken torches.

Master of Ceremony Dareth went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

Elementress Lilymae just arrived.

Lilymae smiles.

Lilymae says, "Im going to be telling the tale of the great leader Lanival.  He might have been born Elven, but he was a Human by heart who believed in the ways of my order, The Order of the White Rose, and defended those he loved and those beliefs with his life.  So sit back and relax...I hope you enjoy"

Lilymae smiles softly at you as she takes a deep breath.

Lilymae recites:

"This is a tale of a man we all know

A brave warrior against all his foe

Lanival, the Redeemer was his name

And here is how he came to fame..."

Lilymae recites:

"Born Elven and into the Kanton Clan

He was known to be an annoying and lazy man

Deciding finally to make his own way

Lanival wandered from the clan, to become a war mage."

Lilymae recites:

"Lanival was a thin and intense young man

Dark haired, bright eyed and a charming grace

He spent hundreds of years roaming as a vagabond

Flitting around from place to place."

Lilymae recites:

"Finally drifing to the Spine of the Dragon

Using his magics and hunting the game

He was struck by a blizzard and wandered alone

Desperate and delusional from all his pain."

Lilymae recites:

"He came across a cave and made himself a fire

And there he fell into a fevered sleep

Over his shoulder, eyes glistening bright

A dragon, Glacis, watched over his new keep."

Lilymae recites:

"Changing his form from dragon to human

Glacis cared for and tended the man

And awakening after many a day

Talked to and taught his ways to Lan.."

Lilymae recites:

"Meanwhile, as Lanival wandered the realms

His greatest foe was building his force.

Teiro, angry of the Elven leadership decline,

Humiliated at the defeat to humans, he made his new course."

Lilymae recites:

"His wife a great and powerful Elf,

Their daughter Nissa, a healer in many ways.

He was once a good and kind man

But had twisted, becoming more evil day after day."

Lilymae recites:

"Raising some of the 'old-guards' he knew,

He began to form his army of Elves.

The council objected, his daughter as well

So he killed most and quieted his daughter saying...or else."

Lilymae recites:

"And that is when this Elven Lord

      Began to exact his revenge.

On the Humans who he so scorned,

For stealing the glory of the Ilithi nation."

Lilymae recites:

    "During this time, Lanival returned.

Reuniting the clans like Akroeg before

And with them began his campaign

Against the chaos and the Elven Lord."

Lilymae recites:

"The war lasting a dozen years,

The first five the best, the last two the worst.

      Lanival's dream finally cam true

and on the day of the victory over Teiro he heard these words "

Lilymae recites:

"Lord Teiro we are coming... No matter what the cost

Lord Teiro can you hear us?

The voice of those who were lost? Our sisters, and our brothers, our children and our wives

      Our husbands and our families

      Are screaming for your life

You can walk with a thousand regrets, but the people do not forget."

Lilymae recites:

"The Battle between the two forces

Was met below the Mountains made of Spine

The final battle very well matched,

Both sides fighting, both sides dying."

Lilymae recites:

"Lanival was sick of the war

Yet Teiro couldnae get his fill,

Casting a spell of power from Ages afore

Destroying most Teiro laughed at all of the foe he did kill."

Lilymae recites:

"Hope was bleak, Lord Teiro was truly mad!

Lanival knew that the time had come.

To fight a battle of utter hopelessness,

or to surrender, but never run."

Lilymae recites:

"What Lanival did then would put his name,

Down into the books for all eternity.

Wandering away from the camp he heard a noise,

And turning around, was his old friend Glacis he did see."

Lilymae recites:

"Glacis spoke of the war and the deadly spell,

Saying it invites attention Teiro did nae want.

And turning around Lanival saw before him,

a very large glistening gold eye of a dragon."

Lilymae recites:

"Turning to face his friend Glacis, he did see,

Not a Human but a Dragon in his place

Glacis spoke of Guardians and of peace,

Said that the Dragons shall come help him find his way."

Lilymae recites:

"Not one to look  a gift dragon in the mouth,

He agreed to the help from his friend.

      Leaping atop of Glacis back,

They few back to the army, rallying them once again."

Lilymae recites:

    "The war turned that night,

From hopeless loss to a staggering win

The dragons staying till Teiro's spell was gone,

Striking terror into the hears of all the men."

Lilymae recites:

"With the end of the war Lanival devided up the lands,

And leaving a note he went on his way.

      Leaving Crossing and heading south,

Never once expecting that lurking assasins await."

Lilymae recites:

"As legend goes he nearly made it to Glacis' house,

when with knives bared jumped out Elven women and men,

After the fight, five assasins lay dead, Lanival almost the same

He found the strength and dragged himself to the dragon's home again."

Lilymae recites:

"Calling out faintly to his old friend,

Glacis knew of only one way

A dragon's healing it would take not weeks, but decades.

Making sure this is what Lanival wanted, he then slept him for thousands of days "

Lilymae recites:

"Whether he ever woke or not is to this day unknown.

Some believe he sleeps still, some say he wanders still to this day,

There are some who believe that he has passed on,

Or that he sleeps till the Realms need him again."

Lilymae recites:

    "Whether someday, Lanival may return,

      Remains yet to be clear.

And now my friends, you now know,

The tale of Lanival, the Redeemer."

Lilymae smiles at you as she curtsies to you and leaves the stage quietly.

Kortny says, "Ok now I would like to continue with another song."

Kortny says, "Most of you have heard of the Great war with the Gorbesh we had, this is a song that was written as it happend and about Wren and her adventures."

Kortny says, "I will now sing "Wren and the Red Winter War" by Kortny Horselord"

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"A swirl of destiny does flow

     Amid the rumours of war

In this torrid soil a plot does grow

And gives rise to the prophecies of lore."

Kortny slowly sings in a baritone voice:

    "A Chalice, a Bard, and a Lute

All intertwined with blood and tears

In this mixture an evil plan bears fruit

As reality gives birth to our deepest fears"

Kortny sadly sings in a baritone voice:

"A battle springs across the lands

Warriors rally to the horns call

The enemy comes with bloodstained hands

And clash against the city's walls."

Kortny hopelessly sings in a baritone voice:

"The cities are separated and heroes fall

As the warriors battle for the gates

Each town sends out an urgent call

And through it all we wait our fates."

Kortny angrily sings in a baritone voice:

"A message from the enemy arrives

A demand of just one bard's life

     To stop the wounded cries

And put an end to this dreaded strife"

Kortny quietly sings in a baritone voice:

"The answer is no and the bardess hides

The chalice and lute are guarded closely

To try to stop death's swift ride

As the attackers ranks swell hopelessly"

Kortny hopelessly sings in a baritone voice:

    "Warrior, Priest, Bard, and Empath

     All fall to evil's sword

The cities are lost to the enemies' wrath

And at the gates the enemy now wards"

Kortny regretfully sings in a baritone voice:

"Gentle bard is taken at last

Guardians of the lute are taken one by one

All defenders fall to arrow, sword, and axe

Many claim that the Gorbesh have won"

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"A standard rises and warriors rally

The wounded heal and an army forms

These stalwart warriors challenge the tally

This army girds themselves all weary and torn"

Kortny emphatically sings in a baritone voice:

"The paladins lead and the warriors follow

The towns are reclaimed one at a time

But victory brings a harsh sorrow

As violence is repaid in kind."

Kortny hesitantly sings in a baritone voice:

    "As the world does recover

And the foolish belive it has ended

     The wise discover

That our last hope might have been left unattended."

Kortny slowly sings in a baritone voice:

    "A memory of three notes

     Bring the bards together

     They share a faint hope

But they find just a wrens feather."

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"A voice to guide gives the way

As one of each is gathered togather

They all join to sing and pray

And three step forward with a wren's feather"

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

    "Their faith brings its reward

And Wren is saved from death

But only her life will the god's ward

But they give no guarantee for our last breath."

Kortny bows.

Kortny smiles sadly.

Kortny says, "Trying but defining times for us all."

[back to Set List]

Kortny says, "Well as the years go on, I start to feel them more and more."

Kortny smiles.

Kortny winks.

Kortny says, "Which caused me to write this next little song, which this is its first public performance."

Kortny says, ""Life's Journey" by Kortny Horselord"

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

    "Years tumble so quickly by,

     That I sometimes wonder why.

Why the child of my memories,

In the mirror an adult does see?"

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"Movements that used to be so smooth,

Now leave me with aches to sooth.

The hours of each new day,

Seem to take wing and fly away."

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"But there are joys in times gone past,

For some memories will always last.

Friends and familey grow more dear,

As the time for our final journey does draw near."

Kortny sings in a baritone voice:

"And if history I could indeed change,

Very few things would I rearrange.

So I must say I am content,

And thankful for the blessings sent."

Kortny bows.

Kortny smiles.

[back to Set List]

Kortny says, "Well that concludes my singing, but I had a request for a story."

Kortny says, "The one that I have chosen is one that I wrote a long time ago."

Kortny says, "I spent some time looking into one of the mysteries of this realm, and this is the story I found."

Kortny says, "This is the story of Anlorahlhe by Kortny Horselords."

Kortny recites:

"When the armies of the World Dragon Priests

Had retreated to the area of the Black Hand

The Elotheans and Elves of the shattered city of Shard

Banded together to rebuild Shard and the province of Ilith."

Kortny recites:

"It was during this time that Alec

Built a symbol of that new peace with the Elves

That symbol being the gondola that served to connect

The elves with their Leth kin."

Kortny recites:

"The Elves, honored by this act,

Swore to guard and ensure the operation of the gondola

It is at this point that our story begins."

Kortny pulls his hood up on his cloak covering his face in shadows.

Kortny leans forward.

Kortny darkly says, "But even as the Elves and Elotheans celebrated the rebuilding of their cultures, dark forces gathered to oppose them.  And it was in a deep hole that an evil necromancer began to chant. "

Kortny chants in a baritone voice:

    "Darkness, Darkness, come to me!

Gather round and follow my decree!

A heart of ice and anger of life!

Create me a creature full of spite!

Form claws that are so sharp and cruel,

That they can slice those Elven fools!"

Kortny darkly says, "And as he chanted this evil spell, a creature was given life.  Seemingly nothing but claws and fangs, it's first step on this world sent a ripple through the magic of the land."

Kortny says, "An Elven mage whose age was beyond the memories of all but himself, felt the evil magic resonate in the lands.  And as it faded away, fate took possesion of him and he chanted these words with his dying breath:"

Kortny chants in a baritone voice:

"As light turns so does darkness

As darkness turns so does light

When the powers of death bring forth life

The powers of life must bring forth death"

Kortny chants in a baritone voice:

"A mother's milk will quench the flame

A noble's blood will talisman bring

To the center must it go

And wait there for it's appointed foe."

Kortny quietly says, "Now the Elves debated long and hard trying to discern the prophecy.  After five years of study, it was decided that they would create a talisman so full of the magic of life that it's mere presence would dampen the evil in the realms."

Kortny quietly says, "What exactly the Elven mages did to create the staff is unknown.  But after five years they appeared with a staff burning with a blue flame.  A hundred Elven mothers gave of their breasts milk to quench the magical flames that danced within the staff.  And thus was a talisman for good born."

Kortny says, "The leader of the Mountain Elves recognized that this talisman would be needed in the future and the safest place for it would be in the great temple in Crossing.  "

Kortny says, "She chose twenty of her finest warriors to escort the staff to the province of Zoluren.  To lead this war party she chose her daughter Anlorahlhe."

Kortny firmly says, "Now Anlorahlhe was the pride of the Mountain  Elves. There were many songs sung of her praising her beauty and her kindness."

Kortny darkly says, "Unfortunately unknown to the Elves their actions had not gone unnoticed.  Spies for the necromancer watched as the war party readied itself for departure."

Kortny darkly says, "The mage summoned up his creature and infused it with his power.  He then sent it to intercept the Elves and destroy the tailsman.  The creature raced toward the Elven lands with great speed."

Kortny says, "The war band, having gotten ready, departed from the mountains and arrived at the gondola.  Anlorahlhe sent one half of her guard across to secure the northern platform.  "

Kortny says, "The gondola guided by an Elven mage returned to the south platform to pick up the rest of the party.  The spirits of the party were high and laughter and song filled the air as the party took their seats."

Kortny sighs.

Kortny sadly says, "No one noticed the small thump on the top of the gondola."

Kortny slowly says, "The beast attacked without warning.  The Elven mage operating the gondola was the first to die.  The guards leapt to fight but were flung back and overcome by the pure savagery of the beast.  In the end only the princess Anlorahlhe and the beast were left."

Kortny says, "Well, the princess held the staff in front of her and the beast was kept at bay.  But the princess had not been unscratched in the struggle, a red stain was now forming at her side."

Kortny exclaims, "Suddenly the prophecy was made clear to her!"

Kortny chants in a baritone voice:

"A mother's milk will quench the flame

A noble's blood will talisman bring

To the center must it go

And wait there for it's appointed foe."

Kortny sadly says, "She knew the future would need this talisman and also what she had to do.  She reached down and ran the staff along the blood of the wound at her side."

(Kortny stamps the ground with a loud !!!THAMP!!!!)

Kortny says, "And a bright light enveloped the gondola, and Anlorahlhe's body fell to the ground.  The beast with a heart of ice was too strong to be overcome so easily but it was greatly weakened by the magic of life that shone forth.  "

Kortny says, "With a jerk of the ropes the gondola started to move again, with no hand to guide it.  The warriors having heard the cries stood ready on the platform.  But whatever they where expecting it was not the creature that sprang past them and fled down the ridge."

Kortny says, "The rest of the war band rushed into the gondola with cries of dismay.  All inside where dead and the enchanted staff was not to be found."

Kortny says, "Some say the Elves failed in their mission that day.  Others are not so sure, because that gondola with no hand to guide it still travels back and forth.  And a few have been said to hear a young lady weeping as if some duty had long kept her seperated from those she loved. "

Kortny quietly says, "But I guess only Anlorahlhe really knows the truth.  For now........."

Kortny bows.

Kortny smiles.

Kortny says, "Remember and listen when you travel the gondola, and you might to hear her."

Kortny says, "Thank you very much for letting me perform before you tonight, it was an honor."

Kortny draws his greatcloak aside, and bows courteously, sweeping his free hand before him.

Kortny says, "Enjoy the fair."

Songsmith Kortny went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group just arrived.

(Zazu grins as she approaches the stage and looks over the audience.)

Zazu cheerfully asks, "now how is that for entertainment?"

Chabelle applauds.

Roxana gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Roxana grins.

Zazu says, "let's hear a big huzzah for Kortny"

Zazu lets out a loud "Huzzah!"

Roxana gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Chabelle lets out a loud "Huzzah!"

Azkaban applauds.

Azkaban gets an impish expression on his face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Zazu cheerfully says, "I'd like to warn some folks of upcoming performances"

Zazu grins like an idiot.

Roxana chuckles.

Zazu cheerfully says, "Tashya is telling a story then the Cast members of the Chadatru play need to be backstage.  Caitlin will be performing after that."

Zazu cheerfully says, "Then we have a sweet duet between Blujae and Catwrist."

Roxana applauds.

Zazu gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Azkaban gets an impish expression on his face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Chabelle gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Zazu cheerfully says, "that should take us through the top of the hour"

Zazu cheerfully exclaims, "I hope our Theren Guard folks are still around, we have a sword duo coming up!"

Roxana smiles.

Zazu applauds.

Zazu happily says, "I have just recieved reports that there is more beer in Bubbinster's Row"

Zazu grins at Roxana.

Roxana laughs!

Roxana nods.

Roxana opens her sharkskin haversack.

Zazu smiles as she winks at Bubbinster.

Roxana gets a carved pick from inside her sharkskin haversack.

Zazu slowly empties her lungs.

Roxana slides a carved pick onto her finger.

Roxana gets a cherrywood gittern inlaid with gold-banded rings of ivory and jade from inside her sharkskin haversack.

Roxana closes her sharkskin haversack.

Roxana moves a cherrywood gittern inlaid with gold-banded rings of ivory and jade to her left hand.

Zazu cheerfully says, "but now, that I have found my songbook, lets try the song for the Apostles."

[back to Set List]

Zazu says, "I hope this a fitting tribute to the brave Apostles who risked all in the Gorbesh War. Some lost all too and we thank them most of all."

Zazu says, "I call this, "Apostles Stand" at least until someone comes up with a better title"

Zazu smiles as she plays a few opening notes on her lyre.

You listen with appreciation as Roxana plays a gentle lullaby with consummate skill.

(Azkaban begins to play a slow sombre melody on his silver whistle.)

Chabelle smiles as she nestles her violin under her chin and aptly pulls the bow across its strings. The notes merge with the groups own music.

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"No brotherhood like they who bravely face a common foe

No enemy so base as they that laid our brothers low

No sister's face so dear as one who faced the Gorbesh tide

No bond, no friendship deeper than one battle proved and tried."

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"No quarter asked, none given, for we fought them toe to toe

The Gorbesh might we stopped here and we made the bastards go.

Apostles, sword in hand, we beat the Gorbesh mailed fist.

Though friends we lost forever swell the ranks of honor's list."

Weaving a melancholy tone that saddens the soul, a slow ballad glides from Roxana's cherrywood gittern.

Azkaban smiles as he continues to play gently, the occasional high note bringing a tear to your eye.

(Zazu smiles at the audience as she coaxes somber notes from her lyre which blend with the voices.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

With a subtle, powerful style, Roxana strums a slow ballad weaving a melancholy tone that saddens the soul.

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"In Crossing town and at the barricades

We faced the battle spheres and Gorbesh archers raids

We fought them North and South and beat them fair

Apostles led the fight where no one else would dare."

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"We dragged the dead we took the wounded's pain

We raised the fighter so they rose to fight again

And if another enemy with blood our land will stain

We company of heros, we Apostles, rise to fight again!"

Chabelle smiles softly as her bow glides across the strings of her violin. The somber music floats throughout the room, causing chills to run through the audience.

(Zazu continues to bring serious notes from her lyre.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

Azkaban smiles as he glances over to Roxana, weaving a beautiful harmony with her, gliding notes that mourn fallen heros.

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"We all recall a face that graced a friend

And mourn their Starry Walk at friendship's end

We will not ever let your memory die

And hear your voice with ours in every battle cry."

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

"We all recall a face that graced a friend

And we Apostles will your sacrifice defend

For what is bought with such a precious price

No less than all Apostles best could then suffice."

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"We all recall a face that graced a friend

And we Apostles will your sacrifice defend

For what is bought with such a precious price

No less than all Apostles best could then suffice."

(Roxana plays her gittern softly, eyes closed in concentration.)

(Zazu plays her lyre with a serious look, her notes blending with the other muscians.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

Azkaban smiles as he plays a flutter of notes in a moving refrain.

(Zazu looks up at you with a tear in her eye as she continues her song.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

"Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand

The staunch defenders of our home, Our Land

We raise a cup to hail you, victors in the fray,

And Heros, ever were and come again another day."

With a subtle, powerful style, Roxana strums a slow ballad weaving a melancholy tone that saddens the soul.

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand

The staunch defenders of our home, Our Land

We raise a cup to hail you, victors in the fray,

And Heros, ever were and come again another day."

Roxana finishes playing on her cherrywood gittern.

(Zazu leans back and strums her lyre slowly.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

"A brotherhood we are who faced the Gorbesh foe

The Gorbesh Might we broke and made the bastards go

No deeper bond of friendship than on battle proved and tried

We raise a cup to hail Apostle heros who have tragic died."

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

"A brotherhood we are who faced the Gorbesh foe

The Gorbesh Might we broke and made the bastards go

No deeper bond of friendship than on battle proved and tried

We raise a cup to hail Apostle heros who have tragic died."

(Chabelle blends her serious notes with those around. She smiles over at Azkaban as he weaves his magical music with his instrument.)

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

Chabelle's soprano, Azkaban's tenor and Roxana's soprano join with Zazu's soprano as she sings:

"A brotherhood we are who faced the Gorbesh foe

The Gorbesh Might we broke and made the bastards GO!"

(Zazu is absorbed by her music which blends with the voices of the bards around her.)

Zazu sings in a soprano voice:

    "Yes! we defend our land,

But more our company of friends

Oh shoulder on and back to back we stand...

A shield strong that does not break nor bends,

     Nae bows to despots cruel

     Nae stands for Gorbesh rule,

Apostles shoulder on and back to back we stand!"

Azkaban smiles as he glances at Chabelle, trying to capture the words of the song in a powerful movement of notes.

Zazu smiles as her notes fade with the last words of the song.

Zazu sighs.

Roxana smiles at Zazu.

Zazu quietly says, "thank you all, for listening to our song"

Zazu quietly says, "We ask that you remember the fallen"

Zazu quietly says, "We leave you now, to return to the Faire."

Zazu takes off her hat a moment and fans herself with it, then places it back on her head.

Zazu blinks.

Azkaban bows.

Roxana bows.

Zazu bows.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Master of Ceremony Dareth's group just arrived.

(Dareth strolls casually from the darkness of backstage to the lightened area of center stage. You can see him smile and bow to you as the hardwood floor creaks as he walks across it. )

Dareth says, "that was excellant"

Dareth says, "I hope everyone enjoyed it"

Dareth says, "we now have Tashya performing a song and a story"

Dareth smiles and wavea to Tashya motioning for her to begin. He slowly blends back in with the darkness of  backstage.

Master of Ceremony Dareth went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

(Tashya squints through the bright lights at the audience.)

(Tashya pulls out a bag of small, squishy  yellow creatures, and hands them around to the audience.)

Tashya smiles as she watches the audience munch on the candies, oblivious to their impending doom.

Tashya sings:

"A gusting, chilled wind blows in from the North,

As my friends and I sit, warmed by the hearth.

Snow blowing and whirling shakes the guild to its rafters,

As we block blizzard gusts thru songs, drink, and laughter."

Tashya sings:

"I smile, and recall a mysterious Gypsy.

I'd been drinking, OF COURSE, and had gotten quite tipsy.

Her wagon was filled with secrets and wonders,

When I spotted a bag of unusual plunder..."

Tashya sings:

"She was quick to notice my curious gaze,

And pulled out of the bag a strange, little case.

Lined up inside were small, yellow creatures,

Squishy and silent, to perusal of features."

Tashya sings:

"For a song and a dance, and 2 plat of my kronars,

I quickly became the small creatures' new owner.

"A rare, delight!" said the Gypsy, with fervor,

"But take heed, read the Caution before going further!""

Tashya sings:

"I blinked as my thoughts returned to the present,

The tiny, bright candies could make the night pleasant!

While telling my tale,  I passed round the Peeps case,

With little attention to caution, I raced. "

Tashya sings:

"It was only after more laughter and songs,

It occured to me something was terribly wrong!

I quickly pulled out the simple white label,

And gasped as I looked at the case on the table!"

Tashya chants:

"Ingredients : Sugar, Glucose, Monosodium Glucanate, Mystical Marsh Mallows, and Yellow Dye #5.....MYSTICAL MARSH MALLOWS!!! Eat with EXTREME caution!!"

Tashya sings:

"I slowly backed off from the small, Peep Chicks,

Slapping my forehead at the mess left to fix.

From outside we heard, came a Thump!, and a Bang!,

Stomped in from the snow, a Beast with razor-sharp fangs!"

Tashya sings:

"In from the storm came the huge Mama Peep!

Her fangs and claws a sight, best unseen.

She had come for her babies, her little Peep Chicks,

We all stared in horror, with a plan needed, quick!"

Tashya sings:

"Out of the shadows sprang Lemack on his guard,

He attacked from behind, hitting her hard.

He had almost managed to corner the beast,

But was suddenly grabbed and thrown thru the door, east!"

Tashya sings:

"Next I went forth to vanquish our foe!

I told her a joke, and a pleasant, short poem.

She seemed to warm up, and back down just a bit,

Then facedown, I find myself, by my mandolin hit!"

(Tashya wobbles and moans while rubbing her head.)

Tashya sings:

"Last Kelela came forward, to settle the matter.

She quietly sipped at her ale while she pondered.

She glanced at her mug and before we could stop her,

Her ale went out flying at the bright, yellow monster!"

Tashya winces.

Tashya says, "The agony! Alcohol abuser! "

Tashya sings:

"We watched in horror, and each of us flinched,

But the ale hit its mark, and the Mama Peep winced!

With popping and sizzling, the mighty beast roared,

Til there was naught but a puddle of goo on the floor!"

Tashya sings:

"Kelela glanced at Lemack, and Lemack glanced at me.

We were lucky to survive, this small group of three.

The remaining young chicks, out the door, shooed,

As we sat there staring at the bubbling, bright goo. "

Tashya smiles mischieviously.

Tashya sings:

"So if ever you meet, a Gypsy with candy.

Make sure with a mug full of ale you are handy!"

(Tashya ignores the nervous looks from the sticky-fingered audience.)

Tashya bows.

[From a distance comes the peal of horns as their clarion fanfare proclaims the continued celebration of Glythtide's Faire at Ulf'Hara Keep.]

[back to Set List]

Tashya says, "And now a story with a slightly more somber tone."

Tashya smiles.

Tashya gets a white silk pulpit scarf with tiny praying hands embroidered along the edge in gold metallic thread from inside her traveler's backpack.

Tashya hangs a white silk pulpit scarf with tiny praying hands embroidered along the edge in gold metallic thread around her neck.

Tashya adjusts her pulpit scarf.

Tashya smiles as she shines her rusty Paladin halo, and bows her head in a silent prayer before glancing at the audience.

Tashya regretfully says, "Many do not realize that the gods are among us at all times. Some do not even acknowledge them past the favors they bestow us, but their interest in *us* is not so casual."

Tashya enigmatically says, "We are their special creation, their pride and joy, their failure and disappointments, all wrapped in one package.  Any who doubt that gods walk among us, need only to glance over their shoulder carefully at those special times in their lives."

(Tashya mumbles soft words under her breath as she slowly moves her hand through the air in front of her,  revealing  a small cottage, nestled in darkness.)

Tashya quietly says, "The story begins as it often ends, a cry piercing throught the darkness of night, followed by a deep breath."

Tashya tenderly says, "The infant cries out as he comes forth in to the stark surroundings. As his eyes and body adjust to the newness of light and sounds, he is pulled close to his mother's breast. His cries calm as her heart beats into his ear, and although the world is new to him, his gaze is caught by the woman standing beside his mother's shoulder. Her golden hair fallls curling, down her back; and comfort, awareness, and life emanate from her being. A smile falls across his lips as he slips into slumber, gazing into her warm eyes."

(Tashya tickles the center of the illusion which then shows a small boy, tossing fitfully in his sleep.)

Tashya lovingly says, "This same boy, now in the years of first steps and endless games awakes startled and confused from his dreams. Wary from his nightmare, his heart beats fast inside his chest as he grasps for a hold on his fear.  Alongside him in bed, a dark man sits in the shadows. As the unseen, benevolent hand brushes the hair from his forehead, he gradually falls back against his pillow, secumbing to the dreams and hopes of his heart."

(Tashya's eyes sparkle in merriment as the dark room lightens into a riotous tavern filled with laughing people, dancing and drinking the night away.)

Tashya mischievously says, "A little farther in the turning of years, a long-limbed youth stands stomping his foot in rythmn to a rousing song.  Unsure yet of his place in the world, he stumbles towards the girl of his dreams. With his spirits high (from three too many cups of ale) he flashes a wide smile and coaxes the young lass to dance with him. As they twirl round the dance-floor of the tavern, the musicians play a tune that floats across the air and into the hearts of all who listen. He suddenly stops himself from stumbling, as he swears he catches a glance of a most unusual couple in the corner. Laughing together, a  drunken little Halfing dances a jig with a graceful, but joyous woman who swings her wren-brown skirts with a playful ease."

(Tashya blows lightly upon the illusion and it wavers until it shows a bustling city, its buildings towering and grand.)

Tashya hesitantly says, "The same youth, not quite a man, steps into his guildhall for the first time a year or so later. Awed by the unfamiliar surrounding and people he struggles with his anxieties. Not long afterwards, he steps into his first battle, scared most of all that he may turn and run. He finds a courage he didn't know he had, grits his teeth, and keeps marching forward. As the battle intensifies, a flame-haired warrior moves to guard his back. His sweat and breath tinged in blood, the warrior moves with closely controlled movements employed by equally agile tactics. As the youth turns to raise his fist toward his comrade, he blinks. In that split second, he is alone again, the warrior gone.  Moving as one with the sword, he continues the fight, his wrath delivered through his blade."

(Tashya tugs the picture by its corner, and flips it over to reveal the path to the little village once more.)

Tashya confidently says, "A war-hardened man returns to the village of his youth. The lass he once danced with, now a woman come into her own.  The childhood romance, soon matures into a binding of souls. Time moves quickly in love, and as they stand before their family and  friends, a diminutive woman sits quietly in the last row. Her gauzy skirts fall in a cloud at her feet, adourned with flounces and trailing ribbons.  Dabbing at her eyes with a handkerchief, the elegant woman gowned in dove-white, sniffles softly with a tender smile on her face. She beams at the couple, whispering blessings and words of congratulations under her breath as their hearts become one."

(Tashya grasps the image firmly and shakes it out like a towel, smoothing it out to show a homey cottage surrounded by rosebushes and a small garden.)

Tashya dreamily says, "The years fly by for the man and his wife. Soon they are blessed with children of their own, who bring joy to their hearts.  As the family grows, so does their hapiness. Each night as they sit around the table for dinner, they hold hands and bow their heads in thanks for their good fortune.  At the hearth lies a content tabby cat, spread out near the warmth, a smile upon her face as she gazes at the family in benediction.  She nods in acknowledgement to the raven on the windowsill, who cocks its head to the side with a playful gleam in his eye."

Tashya's tail undulates lazily through the air.

Tashya smiles and lean forward, enraptured by the images of the seasons as they pass over the small cottage, the man, and his family.

Tashya matter-of-factly says, "Soon the summer and autumn of the man's life pass. Time so quickly spent, yet so cherished. Winter comes to set upon his body, though his soul is in its spring.  Each day he and his beloved still wake and sleep with a kiss, their love only strenghthened over the years."

Tashya slowly says, "Children now grown, bring round children of their own for kisses and stories from their grandparents.  Each morning it gets harder to rise from bed, and each night, sleep's lulling song calls him stronger. "

Tashya smiles wistfully.

Tashya sadly says, "As he lies down for the last time, he smiles with a lifetime's love into his wife's eyes. His thoughts return to memories of his marriage, his family, and his childhood. Battles replay in his head, glorious victories, and pushing the enemy into final retreats. The way his love's hair falls over her shoulders to curl just so, and how she still entrances him years later. All the firsts in his life,  holding his daughter as she falls asleep in his arms , the lean winters with little to eat, and all the hardships that made him the man he is today."

(Tashya pulls her fingers inwards to make a fist, and the room begins to darken slowly, til only the light from a single candle wavers.)

Tashya calmly says, "At the foot of his bed, a towering, silent figure wrapped in darkness steps forward to embrace his soul as it leaves his body. But the presence is not alone, the room is also filled with a cacaphony of faces all focused on this one mortal's death. Faces which celebrate his life and achievements, and mourn his death.  As he steps forward, they welcome  him into the heavens. A star rises to the sky as he walks unto the Starry Path."

Tashya quietly says, "And so the story ends as it often begins, a cry piercing throught the darkness of night, followed by a deep release of breath."

(Tashya silently bows her head in prayer and a shower of sparks fly round twirling and twinkling like all the stars of the heavens, until they slowly fade into the void.)

Tashya bows.

Tashya smiles.

[5:28pm eastern]

Tashya says, "Thank you folks, I believe we have a play coming up next."

Tashya waves.

Tashya went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu just arrived.

Zazu grins like an idiot.

Zazu exclaims, "well now, Tashya sure knows how to spin a tale!"

Zazu says, "I'd like to remind the cast members who are in the Chadatru Play, to please come back stage"

Zazu says, "We are getting ready to perform"

Herald Ravenstorme just arrived.

Ravenstorme nods to Zazu.

Zazu happily says, "I'd also like to give a special word of thanks"

Zazu happily says, "We have been running grossly behind today"

Zazu happily says, "and several performers have willingly cut back their acts, in order to accomodate the schedule"

Zazu happily says, "I know we all want to shine today, and have our time on stage, it means alot that we can all work together"

Zazu cheerfully says, "now I turn the stage over to Ravenstorme"

Zazu just blew Ravenstorme a kiss.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

(Ravenstorme hesitantly approaches the front of the stage, waitting a few to see if he is gona dissappear again)

Ravenstorme recites:

"Well then what have we next......AH yes a wonderful play written by Chabelle titled Chadatru"

Ravenstorme recites:

"Please enjoy the play as we have enjoyed bringing it to you this day"

Ravenstorme smiles at Chabelle.

Tavern Trouper Chabelle's group just arrived.

Herald Ravenstorme went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Chabelle recites:

"As you notice the troupe members standing to one side, a curtain appears before them blocking them from view. The curtain parts in the center, showing a bard on a stage drinking from her mug. She appears not to notice the audience as her eyes look over three statues that are in different positions upon the stage."

Espritia the Bard walks over to the smallest of the statues, which sits on the stage far right, and kneels in front of it. She appraises it as she takes another gulp from her ale. The house-cat-size statue appears to be a mongoose with it's small body and short stubby tail. The bard looks at the statue again with a smile before rising and walking over to the next statue. The mongoose's round eyes appear to follow the bard as she moves around on the stage.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"So ferocious and yet so small

This aspect stands above them all

     No lies could he tell

Those he judge he will expel

Defender of the gods to the core

     This positive aspect, Rutilor."

Espritia the Bard walks across the stage to the medium-sized statue placed on the stage far left. This statue causes her to give a bit of a shiver as she looks into the piercing eyes of the goshawk. She quickly takes a couple of gulps from her ale to steady her nerves, before returning her study of the goshawk statue. This robust bird has a long narrow tail, short rounded wings and a bold white eyebrow, that seems to be raised as if it's questioning the bard's existence. The bard shudders and moves rather quickly to the third statue, placed on center stage.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

    "Dishonesty and deceit

These are some traits he keeps

     Bribery and corrupt are more

     Fallen Paladins he will adore

He always looks for the huge rip-off

     This negative aspect, Botolf."

Espritia the Bard looks proudly at the center statue, that of a noble regal lion. His great maw seems to be slightly open, allowing the bard to get a good glimpse of the great sharp teeth that protrude from it. However, the bard doesn't feel afraid, but protected. She is unable to help herself as she reaches out to touch the stone mane.

Espritia sings in an alto voice:

"Lord of Justice, that is him

     Arbitrating at his every whim

     He's fierce in the battle

In lies he does nae dabble

     The truth he will ensue

     This great blind god, Chadatru."

Chabelle recites:

"Suddenly, all three statues come alive! The blue-grey goshawk lets out a loud "kak-kak-kak-kak" as it rises to the air and lands on the head of the lion while the mongoose scampers around the bard's legs causing her to flail as she tries not to fall. The mongoose swiftly runs and jumps on the lion's massive back."

Espritia the Bard stumbles a bit trying to regain her balance as the animals look straight in her eyes. As she stands there rubbing her eyes trying to believe this is happening, the mongoose and the goshawk meld into the lion. The bard blinks then covers her mouth, dropping her ale, as she tries to cover up her scream. She tries to move back, but entangles her feet, falling to the ground. The lion, now with blue-grey wings and a furry stub tail, moves towards her.

Espritia the bard notices that the lion is blinded and unable to see her. She stumbles as she tries to stand and back away quietly when the lion opens its great maw.

Xaphira as Chadatru, even though blind, seems to gaze directly at the bard before speaking.

Xaphira says, "Fear me not, unless you are troubled with sin.  For I am the Lord of Justice.  You have come for a story, have you not?  Well, dear bard, here's a story that you won't resist."

Zazu flails her arms and tries to look serious.

Chabelle recites:

"The scenery changes before your eyes, showing a newer Elanthia. One with no towns or roads. You wouldn't realize it was the same if it wasn't for a few landmarks that still stand to this day. The lion's booming voice seems to follow the scenery change."

Xaphira recites:

"Many many moons ago, we gods were the only ones to walk upon the lands that you do today.  Though it is quite hard to imagine on this day, it is true.  "

Xaphira recites:

"Faenella sang at her hearts delight in those grasslands north of here, Kertigen worked hard in the forge that he built deep in the wastelands, Hodierna tended her fields of special herbs with which she healed us when we were wounded.  Meraud always performing his magic from the shadows, Tamsine watching over us and making sure we were well fed and taken care of."

(Chabelle as Faenella sings at the top of her voice, swaying to her music.)

Azkaban as Glythtide drains another goblet of mead and stumbles about trying to remain god-like.

Xaphira as Tasmine cleans at her hearth, humming merrily.

(Zazu as Hodierna gathers fresh georin and hulnick grass and begins crushing it in a stone mortar.)

Xaphira recites:

"We were content as well as we could be.  For though it was merely us that walked upon these lands, we had enough to contend with.  Damaris, the assassin who brought many of us to Truffenyi who raised us with his special talents.  Everild, always rushing to battle with someone.  Our sisters and brothers, good and bad, were ours.  And we had to adapt with the whim of each, for each of us were different and alike in many ways."

Azkaban as Glythtide lets loose a loud hiccup then stands, blushing and grinning broadly.

(Chabelle as Damaris stalks Kertigen as he heads to the forge, Damaris' arrow aimed at Kertigen's heart.)

(Zazu as Everlid runs onto the battlefield brandishing his sword for all to see.)

Xaphira as Meraud eyes Hodierna, forming a plot in his mind...

Xaphira recites:

"There came a day when the sun didn't shine and not a moon appeared in the sky.  All of us stopped what we were doing and simply looked up at the bleak darkness surrounding us.  Many of us stumbled around looking for others while those with torches held them out to us as beacons."

Azkaban gazes upward.

Chabelle gazes upward.

Zazu gazes upward.

Xaphira gazes upward.

(Chabelle as Faenella holds her torch up high for others to see.)

Azkaban as Glythtide drops a torch then trips on it, giggling all the time.

Xaphira as Tasmine stays close to Faenella, whispering nervously in her ear.

(Zazu as Hodernia stumbles around in the flickering light.)

Xaphira recites:

"As we gathered around, a fierce wind blew out our torches throwing us in the dark once again.  We stood our ground and wondered what this strange event was.  Never had we seen such a happening as this!"

(Chabelle as Faenella drops her snuffed torch.)

(Zazu gasps as the all light is snuffed out.)

Azkaban as Glythtide stands on the torch.

Azkaban exclaims, "Ow!"

Xaphira recites:

"Suddenly a great bolt shot from the sky, spilling us to the ground and placing us in a deep sleep.  As I awoken, the sky was brilliant once again by the sun.  I closed my eyes from its brightness.  Enclosed in this self-darkness, I felt a closeness to me stir.  I re-opened my eyes only to see different images of me, laying there!  Not one, but two!"

Chabelle recites:

"The scenery changes briefly as the Lion looks blindly at the bard who has regained her calmness and even has retrieved another ale from her backpack. The lion smiles knowingly as he senses the look of bewilderment on the bard's face."

Xaphira says, "Aye, bard, in those days I could see. But let me continue before I get ahead of myself."

Chabelle recites:

"The scenery returns to the newer Elanthia, the lion's booming voice returning with it."

Xaphira recites:

"As I was saying, I opened my eyes to find not one, but two different images of me.  One on either side.  Hav'roth and the rest were no longer there.  I looked closely at these figures and soon saw some of their differences more clearly."

Xaphira as Chadatru looks over to Rutilor on his left.

Xaphira gives Zazu a look of sudden recognition.

Xaphira recites:

"The one to my left had a kindly face, though looking at the many swords on his being I knew he was a force to be reckoned with if provoked."

Xaphira as Chadatru looks over to Botolf on his right.

Xaphira gives Azkaban a look of sudden recognition.

Azkaban blinks.

Xaphira recites:

"The one to my right carried a deceitful face, though at the time I could not tell you why.  However I recall later his face seemed to twist and turn under the surface as if his very skin was alive!"

Xaphira recites:

"Bewildered, I was unable to look upon their faces anymore.  I looked towards the sky once more, trying to determine what had exactly happened.  The sun seemed to glow with a brilliance unlike any before.  As I stared into those rays, my eyes burned beyond belief, yet I was unable to turn away.  I grasped the hands of the figures next to me, their fingers seeming to meld with mine."

Xaphira gazes upward.

Xaphira gazes upward.

Xaphira as Chadatru holds Rutilor and Botolf's hands.

Xaphira recites:

"I'm unsure how long we were there or even what time it was, for by this time as I'm sure you realize, I was blind.  Then I realized that the figures were speaking for the first time."

Zazu recites:

"Be not afraid, Chadatru, for we are here with you always."

Azkaban exclaims, "Kak! You shall never see us again!"

Azkaban as Botolf gives a little laugh at his own joke.

Xaphira says, "Who are you? Were you here before? Surely you could not be for I would have seen you.  When I had eyes."

Xaphira as Chadatru bows his head.

Zazu recites:

"We are aspects of you, Chadatru. The positive and the negative. I am Rutilor and this is Botolf. We have been with you for all your duration."

Azkaban says, "Looks like you are stuck with us, fella. Hey nice looking blade ya got there, Rutilor. I got a nice little dagger that I could trade for that. Filled to the hilt with gems, it is."

Azkaban as Botolf smirks as he taps an ordinary short dagger.

Xaphira asks, "I can sense which is which between the two of you.  Why are you here?  What has happened?"

Xaphira flails her arms and tries to look serious.

Zazu recites:

"We are aspects of you, Chadatru. The positive and the negative. I am Rutilor and this is Botolf. We have been with you for all your duration."

Zazu says, "We are here because you need us. Though each of us are different in our ways, we are the same person. Soon we will have mortals who will need us. Need you."

Xaphira asks, "Mortals?  Need me?  I am blind!  Of what help can I be to them?"

Azkaban says, "Kak! This is to be a god? A blind man who fights fiercely? Kak! This is no god! I should be the God! I can easily carry out what needs to be done to those mortals."

Azkaban as Botolf wipes his blade upon his leathers, looking around.

Zazu says, "Chadatru, you are more brave than you think. You are more just because you are blind. You are unable to be persuaded by gifts. Your blade sails in your battles quicker than mortal eyes, though you cannot see."

Chabelle recites:

"And at this moment, a great trumpet seemed to sound. Rutilor and Botolf held the hands of Chadatru as they hurried towards the trumpet. Hurried to the sound of many feet trampling the ground, of blades clashing against each other. A whoosh by Chadatru's ear made him draw his blade. Remembering the words of Rutilor, he held his blade before him, feeling the movements in the air from a slice of a blade. Quickly, he parried and clashed his blade against the opposing one. He fought and fought to the last of the battle."

Azkaban as Botolf draws his dagger and lunges forward striking at the foe.

(Xaphira as Chadatru draws his blade and quickly parries.  With a quick thrust, he sticks his blade into his opponent.)

Azkaban as Botolf wipes the blade of his dagger clean afore jabbing it at another, spilling entrails all over the stage (I mean battlefield).

(Zazu as Rutilor joins in the fray, fighting for his life.)

Azkaban as Botolf runs forward and slips on some entrails.  He is propelled forward at an alarming rate, but luckily is stopped when his long dagger slips clean through another foe.

(Zazu as Rutilor dodges a blade and comes in with a swift lunge of his sword.)

Chabelle recites:

"Upon reaching the center of the battlefield, Chadatru overheard a group of men arguing their sides. This time with words, but Chadatru could tell he would soon be hearing the clash of blades again. He brushed by a tree and picked off an aromatic laurel. Holding it high in his hand, he strode forward to two of the men and quickly settled their debate."

(Xaphira as Chadatru places his hand on two of the men and talks in low tones.  So in low in fact, that others have gotten closer to the god to hear him.  As he turns to walk away, the group of men seem to be at ease.  Two men turn and watch him join Rutilor and Botolf.)

Chabelle recites:

"The scenery returns to the stage where the bard sits in front of the lion, listening carefully to Chadatru's tale."

Xaphira says, "The men were paladins Rutilor told me afterwards. "Defenders of a cause, honorable", he said.  Botolf had replied to him, "Different causes.  Different honor.  One has fallen from ya, Rutilor."

(Xaphira as the Lion of Chadatru smiles at the bard, his fangs glistening in the light.  His blue-grey goshawk wings fold around his taut abdomen while his furry mongoose tail brushes lightly against the floor.)

Xaphira says, "But he always remains with me, no matter which of my aspects he chooses."

Xaphira sounds a powerful roar, her cry spanning the octaves!

Chabelle recites:

"And with that, the curtains close before you. With a blink of the eye, they disappear and again the Tavern Troupe stands before you."

Chabelle bows.

Azkaban bows.

Xaphira bows.

Espritia curtsies.

Zazu bows.

Tavern Trouper Chabelle's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Master of Ceremony Ravenstorme just arrived.

Spell Slinger Caitilin just arrived.

(Ravenstorme steps lively and is soon given ya that smile ya know means he has somethin special in store)

Caitilin raises an eyebrow in Ravenstorme's direction.

Caitilin edges away from Ravenstorme.

Caitilin whistles a merry tune.

Caitilin casually observes the area.

(Caitilin gets worried when something "special" is in store.)

(Caitilin makes bunny ears behind Ravenstorme's head.)

(Caitilin waggles them back and forth.)

Ravenstorme recites:

"Id like to call your attention to and ask a warm round of applause for Caitilin! SongsterMage extrodinaire! who puts fear in to all who have ears or fur!"

Ravenstorme chuckles.

Caitilin says, "the bane of"

Caitilin nods.

Ravenstorme pokes Caitilin in the ribs.

Ravenstorme bows to Caitilin.

Caitilin smiles.

Caitilin says, "thanks sweets"

Ravenstorme says, "Your audiance deer"

Master of Ceremony Ravenstorme went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

Caitilin says, "welp.. I've been asked to be brief, and although that's hard for me, I'm gonna give it my best shot"

Caitilin smiles.

Caitilin opens her instrument pack.

Caitilin gets a graceful ash cittern inlaid with an ebony compass rose from inside her instrument pack.

Caitilin quietly says, "As many of you undoubtedly know, we recently lost one of our biggest fans.  Her name was Divada.  She was my best friend, and a champion of the arts.  I dedicate this song now to her."

Caitilin smiles softly as she begins to play a slow melody, her fingers strumming lightly.

Caitilin sweetly sings:

"I remember the day we first met

You poured out your heart to me

We shared secrets all night long

Some things were just meant to be

     My friend..."

Caitilin tenderly sings:

"As time passed, our roles changed

And twas you...who eased my pain

     Blending your wisdom with comfort

Until my fears began to wane

     My mentor..."

Caitilin smiles softly, remembering...

Caitilin wistfully sings:

"You were as fragile as a crystal

     Yet as strong...as tempered steel

You smiled bravely and never gave in

Though your heart would never heal

     My hero..."

Caitilin sings:

"You beckoned me to share my gift

You bade me...give it a chance

Your praise set my heart's song free

Your love set my feet to dance

     My muse..."

(Caitilin drops her head as her shoulders begin to shake.  Her fingers cease playing for just a few moments before she lifts her head and gazes at you again.  Tears shimmer in her eyes as her voice drops to almost a whisper.)

Caitilin sings:

"Now your soul winds through the roses

     Slowly dancing...among the trees

And you smile even as my tears flow

Some things only the heart can see

     My guardian..."

(Caitilin takes a deep, shaky breath, and then lets her voice blossom fully.)

Caitilin sings:

"It is hard to go on without you

     To continue...and follow my goal

But as sure as I know anything

You will always be part of my soul... "

Caitilin smiles as she lets her gaze drift up.  Her voice becomes so soft that you can barely hear it.

Caitilin lovingly sings:

    "My sister."

Caitilin curtsies.

Caitilin puts her cittern in her instrument pack.

Caitilin closes her instrument pack.

Caitilin sniffles.

Caitilin says, "bleah...sorry"

[back to Set List]

Caitilin says, "My next song I am doing because I hope Allurana is in the audience"

Caitilin says, "if she is..this one's for you"

Caitilin smiles.

Caitilin smiles and stands straight, her hands clasped against her lap.  She drops her head a bit, a few wispy locks of hair falling over her face.  After a few moments, she raises her gaze to meet yours, and begins to sing.

Caitilin quietly sings:

"There once was a mighty battle

Our troops did what they could

Guilds stood up against the enemy

Taking them down where they stood"

Caitilin sings:

"But the tide turned quickly against us

As the general of the enemy sneered

Our troops were cut down in swaths

     But then..the War Mages appeared"

Caitilin confidently sings:

"Several bright streaks lit the air

The enemy froze in their tracks

     The troops marched bravely on

Knowing the wizards had their backs"

Caitilin sings:

"The War Mages moved through the ranks

The charge in the air was felt

Invisible lashes severed heads and limbs

As swords hissed free from their belts"

Caitilin sings:

"At the lead was a mighty war wizard

His frame shrouded in a black cloak

The War Mages gathered close behind him

As both sides watched, he loudly spoke"

(Caitilin tosses her hair back over her shoulder and plants her hands at her hips.  Her eyes take on a narrowed, dangerous look as her voice grows deep and harsh.)

Caitilin darkly sings:

""Let it be heard now, and heard by all

We will not stop until this battle is done

This is not so much a threat as a promise

The Warrior Mages will be ruled by none!""

Caitilin sings:

    "The wizard closed his eyes

And, flinging his arms out wide

     Called upon all the elements

To come and fight at his side"

Caitilin sings:

"Thunder rolled long in the distance

The earth trembled under their feet

The wind swept angrily around them

The rain came down in furious sheets"

Caitilin sings:

"Lightning forked down at their heads

Fire blazed up nearly to the sky

Aether bound the elements all together

As the wizard gave a mighty war cry"

Caitilin slowly sings:

"Several witches had formed a circle

     Around the general's leering men

Who saw just a bunch of women

All was silent for a moment, but then..."

Caitilin sings:

"The women raised their arms to the sky

They began to chant in a single voice

Thunder crashed down all around them

The troops cowered against the noise"

Caitilin sings:

"The women met the scared mens' eyes

And raked fingers through the air

They tore rifts in the aether plane

     Summoning servants from their lairs"

Caitilin sings:

    "Elementals marched through the rift

     Heeding their mistress' urgent cries

They turned the tide of the battle

The enemy deaths began to rise"

Caitilin quietly says, "The battle raged on for days.  Our troops fell, and their troops fell.  Neither side gained an advantage.  Finally one night, the enemy was spotted gearing up for one final strike....."

Caitilin sings:

"The enemy charged against the tired mages

Who knew the final battle was about to erupt

The mighty wizard gave out a ringing order

All at once, thirty ethereal shields went up"

Caitilin loudly sings:

"Their fingers traced the arcane paths

Their anger causing the magic to bind

Bolts of lightning hurled to the ground

And for just one moment, all went blind"

(Caitilin glances up at you, holding your gaze with hers as she continues to sing, somewhat softly.)

Caitilin quietly sings:

"As the drained mages rubbed their eyes

They gazed around, shocked to see

That their weave had caused such destruction

Killing not one, but all of their enemy.."

Caitilin gazes off into the distance.

Caitilin smiles.

Caitilin sings:

"I bring you now back to the present

Flip forward in history a few pages

Long life to friends, but to our foes.."

"Beware of the mighty War Mages!"

Caitilin curtsies.

Caitilin says, "Bubb, this one's for you...and please keep yer pants on"

Caitilin sings:

    "Ohh..

Ye do not have to be a Bard

To appreciate a good hearty drink

Be ye Elf, or Human, or Prydaen

Enjoy a pint til yer cheeks turn pink!"

Caitilin hiccups.

Caitilin sings:

"My glass is empty, tis not good

     Barkeep, pass me another round!

For I'm not going home until

I'm passed out on de ground!"

Caitilin sings:

"I like de ale, and cherish de beer

And mostly love de flaming grog!

It will knock ye right onto yer rump

Even if yer a really big Gor Tog!"

Caitilin sings:

    "Glythtide's Favor clouds my mind

De brandy turns my tongue to mush

But as long as I can still straight a walk line

Ye have no reason to call me a shlush!"

Caitilin sings:

"My glass is empty, tis not good

     Barkeep, pass me another round!

For I'm not going home until

I'm passed out on de ground!"

Caitilin exclaims, "Bubbinster, put yer damn pants back on!!"

Caitilin hiccups.

Caitilin sings:

"De cider is most definitely spiked

And de wine makes my head fuzzy

But I'm not drunk, no, really I'm not

I'm just a teensy weensy lil bit buzzy!"

Caitilin hiccups.

Caitilin says, "Stop stomping!@"

Caitilin flails her arms about.

Caitilin hiccups.

Caitilin sings:

"Oh, I did not realize ye had a twin

Yep, identical, plain as can be!

Hey, wait a second...what's going on?

Now there are THREE of ye!"

Caitilin blinks.

Caitilin sings:

"My glass is empty, tis not good

     Barkeep, pass me another round!

For I'm not going home until

I'm passed out on de ground!"

Caitilin sings:

"Fine drink makes yer talk much easier

As long as ye have brain cells to spare

It relaxes de mind to think of pick up lines

Such as, "Hey, nice ass you got dere!"

(As one hitting upon a Trader might say)"

Caitilin winks.

Caitilin whistles a merry tune.

Caitilin sings:

"My glass is empty, tis not good

     Barkeep, pass me another round!

For I'm not going home until

Oooh, why is the ground rushing up towards..."

Caitilin falls over.

Caitilin snores.

(Caitilin gets hoisted up by two guards and hawled off the stage.)

Zazu smiles as she taps her hook.

Zazu exclaims, "she was not mistaken, we are runnin a bit behind and asking the performers to help us get back on track!"

Zazu cheerfully says, "I'd like to warn some folks to come backstage, as they will be performing soon..."

Zazu cheerfully says, "Rawb has a story to share, and there is the sword demo with Ternith and Gottimus"

[back to Set List] [6:07pm]

Blujae leans on Catwrist.

Blujae recites:

"Remember the day we met in my Guild

     Under Silvry's frosty glare

     As she tried to explain

     All I needed to gain

     Though quite frankly...

     She didn't seem to care

     For you much at all"

Catwrist winks at Blujae.

Blujae winks at Catwrist.

Blujae recites:

    "You were training some friend....

     (Mmm...I knew his name then)

     In skills that would build

     A great Bard extraordinaire

     Ya asked my advice...I mean

     Like ya figured I knew"

Blujae rolls her eyes.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Okays...so truth be told I hadn't a clue

Still ya took my hand and I followed you

     But how in Elanthia...

     Could I have possibly known

I'd end up becomin' your sweet Lady Blu"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"We wandered 'round that Crossing Town

And took in a lot of sights

I even learned a few dances

     While dodgin' advances

From good old whatever was-his-name anyways..."

Blujae peers quizzically at Catwrist.

Blujae dreamily says, "Ahhhh...but then....You took my hand..."

Blujae sighs.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"I swear.... they brought out a new band

'Cause when I looked in your eyes

      And saw your shy smile

     My heart lost a beat

     It forgot to retreat

I was lost as a ship on dry land"

Blujae sweeps Catwrist into a dance.

Blujae smiles and looks lovingly into Catwrist's eyes.

Blujae just blew Catwrist a kiss.

Blujae recites:

"All I knew was your name

     Then you drifted away

Leaving me your sword...and a shield"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Days...weeks and weeks became months

Summer and then it was fall

So I went back to gathering sticks

     Outside of the northeast gate

Acting as if it hadn't meant nothin' at all

     But yes....like all good couples

      We've  been guided by fate

So you found me there....we kept meeting again

As long as I wasn't too late"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"Now who do you suppose finally took me to hunt

And even went broke just to buy me a rose

Seems giving me the sword proved to be just a start

You gave me a bow that went right to my heart

When that made you my shield

      You still didn't yield

You stood right out front...to die if you must"

The dull orange glow fades from around Catwrist.

Blujae smiles reaches up and gently taps Catwrist's silver shield earring.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"Near Dirge under a gnarled old tree

There our first sweet kiss you gave unto me

Then much later in the temple with friends gathered near

You got down on your knee and then without any fear

Asked rather nice if your wife I might be"

Blujae inhales a great swallow of air.

Blujae regretfully says, "I almost said no...."

Blujae slowly empties her lungs.

Blujae recites:

    "I had plans....

     But I said yes

Then I took off and ran"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"I was afraid that it just couldn't last

That someone better would come along

     And then...well...out I'd be cast

For you were destined for valor, honor and truth

A Lady companion, quiet and meek would have suited ya better...

Surely all ya had ta do was wink"

Blujae matter-of-factly says, "But alas..I came back to make you grow strong;"

Blujae rubs Catwrist gently.

Blujae teasingly says, "Is a challenge ...I am....I think"

Blujae flirts with Catwrist.

Blujae coyly says, "What can I say..."

Blujae shrugs.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "I'm a Bard and I'm weak

I'm spoiled, stubborn and don't always watch how I speak

I wants what I wants or all havoc I'll wreak

My tongue may be sharp and my wit a bit dry

If ya cross me too often you'll find that you fry

     A Lady I ain't...but I promised to try"

Catwrist smiles.

Blujae uses her index finger to trace an X across her chest.

Blujae recites:

"Cause I have a good heart

And a good part of it's yours

Times when I've asked you've allowed me to share

Not doubting I loved you hadn't a care

Makes me love you that much more"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

"Funny....I ain't seen ya friend since the wars

And although I'm certainly no Bard extraordinaire

     All that I have...

     And all I will be...

Comes from loving you dearly and you loving me"

Blujae pulls Catwrist towards her!

Blujae just kissed Catwrist.

Blujae points at Catwrist.

Blujae says, "But because he was so special...his gift had to be verra special too. So I wrote him this....It's simply called Rolf's Song."

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Dear Cleric...

     Come rescue me again

I seem to have fallen and I need a hand.

To come back from a cold and barren land.

To love, live and sing again

      Ohhh Cleric...

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Dear Cleric....

     My weapons need Blessing

It seems they damage the critters no more.

Glow has faded, the dead don't die like before

To bash, pierce and slice again

      Ohhh Cleric...

     Your Blessing I need"

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Dear Cleric...

     BTW how is that hand

It seems to be swarming and the mana is great!

Sure could use some help...In fact I can't wait

To watch, beam and cheer again

      Ohhh Cleric...

     That mangled hand I need"

Blujae grins at Rolfand.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Dear Cleric....

     You get that Rose yet

I seem to be thinking I might have a man

Dear husband of mine I'll do what I can

To snuggle, cuddle and smooch again

      Ohhh Cleric...

     A bonding I need"

Blujae points at Catwrist.

Blujae sings in a soprano voice:

    "Dear Cleric....

     Yes it's me again

You remember my Love...well he needs a hand.

To come back from a cold and barren land.

To love, live and breath again

      Ohhh Cleric...

"Clang! Clang! Clang! Wuts that sound?

"Quit hitting me, thief!" The palladin frowned.

"But good sir, sounds so neat!"

"Get outta here scum, whats your beef?!""

Rawb sings:

"Well good sir, you say that I steal..."

"Aye, and ya turn tricks like a circus seal..."

"You question the way I earn a meal?"

"No I question the movtive of why you kneel..."

Rawb sings:

"Sir are you confusing me with the rangers?"

"Sorry my leather-clad foe. Yours is a life of the tip-toe,

You dance and prance and steal from strangers..."

"And you look down upon such gastly deeds?

Why you paladins arn't much better..."

Rawb sings:

"Whilst I lead a life of comfort in my shadowy leather,

You cook and fry in your idiot-sized skillet.

Doing just deeds, and ruining other's fun.

While you boil in the high noon sun.

Is your soul so shining bright,

That you could not enjoy the thirlls of the night?"

Rawb sings:

    "Enraged the paladin gasped! -

"My soul shines white like a bilstering wind...

It glows holy like the fury of a thousand elves!

Its beauty is like that of a virgin queen!""

Rawb sings:

"The thief scratched his head -

"What the hell does that mean?""

Rawb sings:

"Listen tin man, I mean you no ill

I'd just like to challenge your might and your skill..."

"My sword smites foes like a thundering squall!

I strike at the heart of evil's vile vein!

I crush all who oppose with a sickening snap!"

Rawb sings:

    "The thief scratched his head

"Would you cut that bard crap?""

Rawb sings:

    "I know you so tough,

     A real mighty hero.

But against me, you would not hit,

If you were to fight, in a battle of wit."

Rawb says, "The palident, smug as always, replies:"

Rawb sings:

    "I will accept any challenge!

Your fate does indeed look bleak...

For if I best you in this battle of wit,

Your own neck you must slit..."

Rawb says, "The thief thinks on it, and then replies:"

Rawb sings:

"My own life for a bet?

     Indeed I must win...

But for you losing, the price will be sin.

You will storm the empies with your steel flashing,

Hacking and slashing whilst the empies cry murder!"

Rawb sings:

"Agast foul feind I cannot agree to such a pact!

I'd rather fall on my sword than commit such an act!"

Rawb sings:

"Well then sir, I think we're agreed.

The price to the loser will be costly indeed..."

Rawb says, "So the duo strolled over to the battleground of the thief's choice.  An odd marriage of steel and shadows. The thief was determined to bury that shiner where he operated the best. The tavern."

Rawb sings:

"The crowd at the bar glanced up with caution

They stared at the paladin, waiting for his action -

"You gunna condem us for drinkin ar' beer?

You gunna tell us what we dun wanna hear?

'bout da viles o' spittin an sin?""

Rawb sings:

"No, my good friends, I've a bet to win."

The thief looked up, with a smile

"Alright my tin-clad friend, you'll have to muster your guile...

For I have a challenge that'll split you in two.

A small little word game that I call the haiku..."

Rawb says, "An explanation is due for the uncultured guildsmen here, as well as to all the tog's in the back... The format counts sylables, of five, seven, five... (or for you togs thats one hand, one hand and 2 gnomes, and one hand again)... so pay attention, and watch along."

Rawb sings:

"The paladin looked up, a gleam in his eye -

"Well poor friend, a challege of haiku...

Back way back when, they called me Guru.

I would rhyme and ring and sing of virtue,

and sir, a bet is a bet, and this bet you can't undo."

Rawb sings:

"The thief bit his tounge -

     "Curse my foul luck!

Nuts to you you foul dirty...

But wait! - Poetry with a twist! -

Each time you speak, the crowd will cheer...

And if they fall silent, down you will drink a large mug of beer!""

Rawb says, "The pally proclaimed,"

Rawb sings:

"Well then good luck, from deep in my heart,

For this challenge, I feel that I should start."

Rawb sings:

"The crowd grew silent, waiting for the paladin.

The thief wiped his brow, and scratched at his chin

Finally the paladin rose from his chair

His voiced echoed through the still bar room air:"

Rawb chants:

    "I'm a paladin

I stop crime in this fair town

     You, sir, are a crook!"

Rawb sings:

    "The crowd snickered and chuckled

     A few scattered reports

The thief stood ready, with his spiteful retort -"

Rawb chants:

    "Tin cans are useless,

They just clank and take up space,

     Go clank somewhere else!"

Rawb sings:

"A few fickle claps and a couple weak cheers

That was all the thief needed however, to ease his fears."

Rawb sings:

"Drink up friend shiner, for you lost that round.

Might I add the first one to fall flat, and drunk to the ground,

Will be claimed loser while the other will be crowned."

Rawb sings:

"The paladin drank down his large mug of beer

A slight bit of redness tickled his ear.

"Alright fool thief, I take my next,

And say now that this time your words will be vexed.""

Rawb says, "He mustered his brains, and spat out some prose,"

Rawb chants:

    "Scoundrals all about!

You, sir, are the worst of them!

     I refuse to lose!"

Rawb sings:

"Thats the best you come up?

     Hand em another cup!

For I know I can beat this young paladent pup."

Rawb chants:

    "He says I'm the worst...

Tell me, crowd, who is worse off...

     Me, or that shiner?"

Rawb sings:

"The crowd jeered at the clink

     He really did stink

A cheer rose for the thief

The can rose for his drink."

Rawb sings:

    "The pallie wobbled

      Filled with two drinks

As he tried to muster a rhyme

     That just didn't stink

Halfway through, a perty lass smiled

The poor pallie faltered, his haiku rather wild"

Rawb chants:

    "Ya peoples ar dum!

Yous dun what they talk a'bout...

     C'mere cutie-wench!"

Rawb says, "The thief was quick with his retort-"

Rawb chants:

    "What a sad-shaped guard...

His speech slurrs worse then a dwarf...

     Drunk while on duty!"

Rawb sings:

    "Another smattering of applause

The crowed seemed to favor the roughish outlaws

In one great gulp the pally drunk down the brew

He staggered up as the crowd started to boo!"

Rawb chants:

"I... er... not lose dis fight ya hears!

Stawp cheer tweef, it hurts mah earz

     Ahm, uuuh...  where am I?

     *oof!*"

Rawb sings:

"With that the thief smiled a hustlers grin

A brave but dumb shiner this one had been

With the help of the crowd the lug was drug to the street

He stunk of sweaty shoes, bare butt, and feet."

Rawb sings:

"The thief snagged all of the paladin's clothes

And with a sly smile the half bard arose

A new born thief with some brand new plate

And a great big pally that was just dead weight."

Rawb sings:

"He dragged the drunk corpse to the doors of his guild

And naked as there he lay

Until Darius strolled out with a look of dismay

"Ooh disgraceful wreck of a man, I pity you really I do...

But you're such a waste, so to the dung heap with you!""

Rawb sings:

"And so to this day, that man lives out that way

Right by the west gate, not 10 feet away.

Some say he still stalks through the street at the night

You can tell by the sheen of his soul shining bright

A walking poo pile, ooh what a shame."

Rawb sings:

"As for the thief, on that day he sang

Of the paladin that had always been his eternal bane

And the struggle for all who have been oppressed

     By that bright shiney can

Blah blah blah nuts to the rest."

Rawb bows.

Rawb bows.

Rawb bows.

(Rawb turns and bows)

[6:55pm eastern]

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu just arrived.

(Zazu walks slowly to the front of the stage and sits on the edge.  She removes her shoes and rubs her feet.)

Zazu takes a seat.

Zazu quietly says, "ya know, never try to break in new shoes the day of an event."

Zazu smiles as she wiggles her toes in relief.

Zazu casually observes the area.

Zazu quietly says, "ye know a bard could get used to this."

Zazu nods.

Zazu happily says, "we have had some non bards performing today, and that is what I love to see"

Zazu happily says, "all folks have some spark inside them"

Zazu happily says, "I would like to introduce our next performer, a ranger who travels all around."

Zazu smiles quietly to herself.

Zazu sweetly says, "actually, I believe I met him on a ferry to Haven."

Zazu cheerfully says, "I am happy to present for your entertainment, Reien."

Zazu tries to stand and fails.

Zazu shifts her weight.

Zazu giggles.

Zazu stands up.

[back to Set List]

Reien just arrived.

Reien bows.

Reien inhales a great swallow of air.

(Reien starts out with a quiet ballad of hums, lively yet soft in tone. Taping out a rythim with his feet.)

Reien sings:

    "Here we are

      We've come to call

With pipes, and flutes, and fiddles, and all

In case of death we've even brought a keener."

(Reien continues the ballad of hums, his feet taping more rapidly as the tones progress.)

Reien sings:

"So, if you're glum and feeling down

Just feel like us And act the clown

And soon there'll be a change in your demeanour!"

(Reien grins slightly as his hums lift, each rythmic tap of his feet ringing clearly on the floor.)

Reien sings:

"I put me money on a fight today for with the brawl he'd run away

Or so a friend that's in the know he told me

Twenty licks ahead at most, he proundly cantered past his foe

But, woe was me, he lost his bleedin' sword!"

(Reien changes beat dramaticly, and begins a lively jig with a up-beat ballad of cheerful hums which cause your very soul to dance!)

Reien sings:

"Now of all the places I have seen from Theren to Ol' Crossing

Are all across the goat compared to Ratha!

From Mer'Kresh to M'Riss the Haven to Hvrala

There's no where else on earth but like that island!"

(Reien puts his arms out, balancing himself as his feet dance wildly on the floor, his heal and toe together as one, rapping out a message of happiness.)

Reien sings:

"In Grand Ol' Shard I long to be, no, in the place across the sea

Now in county Ratha's lovely garden

Where no pretenders will you find, but decent people warm and kind

And flocks of friendly sheep into the bargain!"

(Reien dances backwards, sweeping in a graceful circle as he feverently taps out the remainder of the rythim, his hands turning to keep his balance.)

Reien sings:

"For your ills don't take a pill, but take it down the road, the hills

And listen to the larks lovely warbling

In the evening in the company, with music in the key of E

You'll be dancing lively steps until the mornin'!"

(Reien finishes off with a heel-toe shuffle, going to a knee and breathing heavily, his arms falling to his sides.)

Reien kneels down.

Reien says, "Thank you."

Reien stands up.

Reien went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu just arrived.

(Zazu approaches the center of the stage slowly.)

Zazu cheerfully asks, "are we enjoying ourselves?"

Zazu lets out a loud "Huzzah!"

Zazu loudly says, "I can't hear you"

Zazu cheerfully asks, "are we enjoying ourselves?"

Zazu says, "a lil better"

Zazu winks.

Zazu says, "okies, my friends, our next performer, is a dear friend of mine from Theren"

Zazu happily says, "I've known Xanzie for awhile now, and I can't think of a better friend or performer."

Zazu exclaims, "Please, give it up for Xanzie!  Tavern Trouper and Theren Guard member!"

Zazu applauds.

Zazu smiles brightly as she walks off stage.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

Taleweaver Xanzie just arrived.

Xanzie beams!

Xanzie curtsies.

Xanzie says, "I tell ya, it's been very hard deciding what to sing for you today."

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie says, "but I think I got one"

Xanzie says, "or so"

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie says, "My favorite songs are about read people.  And things that are going on around me."

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie says, "er real"

Xanzie says, "This song is called 'The Brave Little Teapot goes to Crossing, by Xanzie Nikatime."

Xanzie curtsies.

Xanzie smiles.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"On an eve of similar mood

The Gods struck a deal with Fate

And dared that no one could complete

This mission from Theren to Ulf'Hara's Gate"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "They chose their hero wisely

This brave soldier shall be the one

We shall set him on his mission

And sit back and watch the fun"

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie ponders the task before this brave warrior.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "With is messenger in hand

And precious cargo is his grasp

The brave one and his followers

Set to Crossing on their task"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "Ill fated and mysterious

     This adverture's course would take

No one was sure who ordered this

But it must be done for honor's sake"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"At river's side the bandits came

And the Brave One held his ground

     Even as the messenger fell

This precious cargo must not be found"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"With his bounty in his hand

He called "All troops to my side!"

"We shall not let these bastards get us

We shall get through this with our pride""

Xanzie smiles and raises her hands to the sky.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"The chase was on, but no one knew

Where the package had been fled

All the pursuers wandered off the track

Away to the Brave One's guile was lead"

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Down the road to Crossing he did go

     With reinforcements did he ride

For what was suppose to a small entourage

Had grown to a battalion of pride"

Xanzie smiles widely.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Through the streets the bandits came

And the Brave One held his place

They were all captured by the city guard

But the package was still safe"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"In the court the assassins attempt to slew

The Brave One would not be made barren

He was sent on this mission by the Gods

And he would not fail his errand"

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"So finally to the gates of the prince he arrived

     And his audience was granted

He relinquished his prize to the prince at last

And the prince from its contents he chanted"

Xanzie rolls her eyes.

Xanzie winks.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

""I'm a little teapot, short and stout

Here is my handle. Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up I will shout

So tip me over and pour me out""

Xanzie sighs.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"So before the Gods, The Brave one stood

In absolution for all he's done

Why have my Gods forsaken me

For the trivial pursuit of fun?"

Xanzie shakes her fist!

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

""Dear warrior" The Gods did speak to him

"We could not imagine all these complications

We meant to end this errand at the messengers death

You have succeeded far beyond our expectations""

Xanzie points up.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Let it be known that from this day on

If the Gods, choose to start this masquerade

They should expect not failure for the task

For the Brave Little Teapot shall make the grade"

Xanzie curtsies.

[back to Set List]

Xanzie grins.

Xanzie gets a rosewood fiddle from inside her tapestry case.

Xanzie gets a dark silk cloth edged with onyx velvet from inside her tapestry case.

Using her silk cloth, Xanzie rubs her rosewood fiddle to a spotless shine.

Xanzie says, "My second song.. requires my fiddle"

Xanzie grins like an idiot.

Xanzie puts her cloth in her silken knapsack.

Xanzie listens carefully to the rosewood fiddle, plucking the strings.

Xanzie bends over her rosewood fiddle as she tunes it.

Xanzie smiles as she looks up from her a rosewood fiddle.

Xanzie hums to herself.

Xanzie gets a fiddle bow from inside her tapestry case.

Xanzie says, "Fate is a fickle creature.  She dances she sings.. she even pulls at the harp strings once in a while."

Xanzie says, "The important thing, I guess.  Is knowing when to watch... and knowing when to dance along."

Xanzie says, "This song is called "The Wheel of Life" by Xanzie Nikatime."

(Xanzie taps a quick beat with her toe as she puts her bow to her fiddle.)

Tapping a foot in rhythm, Xanzie strums a playful tune on her rosewood fiddle.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Listen to a story 'bout the life of a man

Who lived every moment as hard as he can

You see him every day workin hard at his fields

And every night he'd be clickin up his heels"

Xanzie smiles at you.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"I asked him once how he kept up the spin

Of days full of grain and of nights full of gin

He laughed and said be sure to understand

The wheel of life's got me fast in its hand."

Xanzie chuckles to herself.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Round and around, on the big wheel

Ya can't get off and ya can't stand still

Grand as the ocean, sharp as a knife

Come and dance on the wheel of life

Come and dance on the wheel of life"

As Xanzie strums her rosewood fiddle, a playful tune ripples through the air with a sound reminiscent of laughter.

Xanzie winks.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"At first I fought off this great leap of faith

No invisible force keeps this bard tied to fate

Then he pulled me up close and he spun me around

And I was amazed at the feeling I found."

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"So we danced through the night and into the next year

We cried when we laughed never holding back our tears

We worked our hands to the bones, we drank every night

We reveled as the wheel held on to us tight"

Xanzie smiles and laughs to herself.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"The wheel of life spins round and round

Ya can't get off and you can't get down

Ya take it through the pain and the joy and the strife

Come and dance on the wheel of life

Come and dance on the wheel of life."

Xanzie hums a playful tune.

Tapping a foot in rhythm, Xanzie strums a playful tune on her rosewood fiddle.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Well the year went by and the wheel took a turn

I went my own way and took the knowledge that I learned

I waved and I cried as I watched him dance away

He was dancing with the Dark Lady all of the way."

Xanzie sighs.

Xanzie smiles as she regales on her past.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Well the years go by and the dancing partners change

You dance while you can and laugh through the pain

But ole Truffenyi in the sky would never let you down

As he spins his ole wheel around and around

Yes, he spins his ole wheel around and around"

Xanzie smiles and dances around with her fiddle dancing her arms.

Xanzie sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"Come and dance on the big wheel of life

Ya dance and you laugh, through the joy and the strife

Keep your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground

Oh, the big wheel of life goes round and round

Oh, the big wheel of life goes round and round."

Xanzie smiles and closes her eyes as the music flows freely from her fiddle.

Filled with subtle rhythms and power, a playful tune ripples from Xanzie's rosewood fiddle.

Xanzie bows.

Xanzie beams!

Xanzie waves a fiddle bow around.

Xanzie says, "Woo hoo"

Xanzie says, "Thank you"

Xanzie waves.

Taleweaver Xanzie went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group just arrived.

(Zazu grins at Daedra as they emerge from backstage.  Their heads are bent in conversation when they look up and notice the audience.)

Zazu gasps!

Zazu slowly says, "oh Daedra, here we are again."

Daedra gulps.

Zazu fidgets nervously.

Daedra leans on Zazu.

Daedra asks, "How do we always end up back here?"

Zazu quietly asks, "so Cousin, how are ye enjoyin things thus far?"

Zazu perks her ears up in delight.

Zazu says, "now, I'd like to warn the folks who need to see me backstage in a few"

Zazu nods to Daedra.

Daedra nods to Zazu.

Zazu smiles as she check her notes.

Daedra says, "It's a must."

Daedra grins at Zazu.

Zazu cheerfully says, "Kalandas if you are out there, come see me.  Bubb and the Bubbettes, ye are performing.  Inessa, dear, you are up soon."

Daedra ponders if she is going to warn them to watch their feet as she treads on them from her running back and forth.

Daedra hums to herself.

Zazu asks, "DD, dear, will you introduce the next act?"

Zazu curls her tail around Daedra's waist.

Daedra exclaims, "I'd be glad to!"

Daedra smiles at Zazu.

Zazu beams at Daedra!

Daedra recites:

"Our next performers are from the Tavern Troupe. Tonight the beautiful Asera and the dashing Sammkit will be treating you to a lovely duet, then Sammkit will treat us to a bit of comedy."

Zazu says, "oooh, comedy"

Daedra recites:

"Let's give the great big round of applause as they take the stage!"

Zazu drools.

Zazu applauds.

Daedra nods to Zazu.

Zazu exclaims, "louder!"

Daedra applauds.

Zazu applauds.

Daedra appears to be listening intently for something.

Zazu appears to be listening intently for something.

Daedra asks, "Can you  hear them?"

Zazu shakes her head.

You hear a thunderous applause from the seating area!

Daedra glances at Zazu.

Zazu begins bouncing up and down like a little kid!

Zazu exclaims, "that works!"

Zazu exclaims, "woo hoo!"

Daedra gets an impish expression on her face, and lets out a hearty cheer.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Asera's group just arrived.

Sammkit nods to Asera.

Bubbinster just arrived.

Asera smiles.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu just arrived.

Zazu holds hands with Bubbinster.

Zazu grins.

Zazu smiles as she grabs her hook.

Asera chuckles.

Zazu smiles as she grabs her hook and pulls bubb off stage

Bubbinster exclaims, "Hey!!!"

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

(Asera mutters somethin' about drunk dwarves.)

[back to Set List]

Asera loudly exclaims, "And now, a little something to scandalize and titillate your palates. No, it's not booze, ya lushes!"

Asera winks.

Asera mischievously says, "For your listening...pleasure, Sammkit Starrclaw will join me in a duet titled "Forgive, Don't Forget"."

(Sammkit warmly cuddles up to Asera and purrs happily.)

Asera lays her ears back, hissing warningly at Sammkit.

Sammkit quirks one ear sideways in confusion.

Asera gives Sammkit a little prod between the shoulder blades.

Asera curtly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "My love, you...pierce me,

     That dwarf was surely blessed.

     Thighs strong as steel,

And with fur on her chest!"

Sammkit quirks his ears outward in surprise.

Sammkit mockingly sings in a countertenor voice:

    "My kitten, you...nip me,

     That tog was simply immense.

     Built like a two-hander,

     But not very adept."

Sammkit smiles mockingly.

Sammkit folds his arms across his chest.

Asera raises an eyebrow in Sammkit's direction.

Asera dryly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "My sweet, you...burn me,

     That halfling was sickly sweet.

     Her tongue was golden honey,

And her tarts were quite a treat."

Asera lashes her tail wildly!

(Asera glances at Sammkit with a disgusted look on her face.)

Sammkit smiles serenely.

Sammkit wryly sings in a countertenor voice:

    "My heart, you...grip me,

     That kaldar was roughly hewn.

     The stamina of a forge,

He knew how to use his tool!"

Sammkit chortles softly at some secret joke.

(Asera growls warningly.  Her fur is fairly standing on end!)

Asera mockingly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "My soul, you...penetrate me,

That gnome knew how to move.

Small and deft she set the pace,

To the rhythm of your castanets."

(Asera directs a piercing gaze at Sammkit, as if to say, "Take that!")

Asera flicks her ears back in obvious annoyance.

(Sammkit gives Asera a deceptively lazy look.)

Sammkit mischievously sings in a countertenor voice:

    "My breath, you...claw me,

     That rakash with his growl.

His bushy tail knew the dance,

     To unlock a cat's meow."

Sammkit smirks.

Asera squirms.

(Asera valiantly tries to hide a grin with a ferocious scowl, but her lips keep turning up, durnit!)

Asera teasingly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "My honey, you...prick me,

     That human was well endowed.

Her milky skin and clever hands,

     Mastered your longbow, proud."

Asera rubs a teak longbow.

Sammkit smiles winningly at Asera, with a glint in his eyes.

Sammkit dryly sings in a countertenor voice:

    "My flower, you...squeeze me,

That skra was smooth and sleek.

His forked tongue knew no bounds,

But his tail...was it trick or treat?"

Sammkit angles his ears forward, gazing curiously at Asera.

Asera purrs deeply, her eyes drooping partially shut.

(Sammkit and Asera gaze at each other speculatively, at an impasse.)

Asera sighs.

Asera sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

    "Ah lover, I forgive ya,

But I vow I'll never forget."

Sammkit tilts his ears forward playfully.

(Sammkit wraps his arms around Asera in a comforting hug.)

Sammkit coyly sings in a countertenor voice:

    "Let's play together then,

Triple or nothing's our best bet."

(Asera and Sammkit grin at each other wickedly.)

(Sammkit and Asera's eyes come to rest unerringly on Isembard. Nodding to each other in agreement, they move forward as one to...entice...their prey.)

Asera bows.

Sammkit bows.

[back to Set List]

Asera exclaims, "And now, the delightful comedy of Sammkit!"

Asera lets out a hearty cheer for Sammkit!

Asera went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Sammkit exclaims, "I'd like to start today with a couple of limericks for your enjoyment!"

Sammkit recites:

"There once was a cute lady Ranger

Who at times ended up in some danger

     It wasn't much fun

     When she had to run

'Cuz an Adan'f Warrior tried to arrange her"

(Sammkit looks expectantly at the audience)

Sammkit recites:

"There once was a very young Bard

Who sang from Crossing to Shard

     The citizens cried, "Lawdy,

     His songs are too bawdy

So he was taken to jail by a guard."

Sammkit smiles at you and encourages you to applaud.

Sammkit exclaims, "Now, if ya don't mind, I have a story to tell ya!"

Sammkit recites:

"Here's a silly little story about horses."

Sammkit recites:

"A farmer had several horses of which he was very proud.  He spent a great deal of Platinum Kronar attending to their well being and appearance."

Sammkit recites:

"One day, a flock of birds flew onto the property, and built their nests in the horse's manes.  Before too long, the horses began to look worn and ragged, as the cacaphony of chirping and whirring was driving them crazy."

Sammkit recites:

"The farmer tried everything to get rid of the birds, but to no avail. Finally, in desperation, he sought the advice of a noted Ranger, who was very knowledgable when it came to horses."

Sammkit recites:

"The expert said, "No problem!  Simply weave some ordinary cooking yeast under the horse's manes, and the birds will leave, never to return!""

Sammkit recites:

"The farmer thought this strange, but decided to follow the expert's advice.  Sure enough, within a week the birds were gone and never returned."

Sammkit recites:

"The moral of the story, of course, is that yeast is yeast, and nest is nest, and ne'er the mane shall tweet."

(Sammkit grins mischievously and ducks his head, anticipating flying tomatoes and other assorted produce)

Sammkit says, "I hope ya enjoyed that one."

Sammkit says, "Would ya care for another? Well....ya gonna get one anyway."

Sammkit recites:

    "Here's a little story I hope ya'll find amusing..."

Sammkit recites:

"The clavichord upstairs in the Bards' Guild Conservatory, is a magnificant instrument. The inside of the lid is decorated with a deeply wooded scene depicting the edge of the Dragon's Breath Forest.  The keys are shaped from smooth ivory and ebony, and veined with mother-of-pearl. But occasionally it goes out of tune."

Sammkit recites:

"When it happened a few years back, Silvyrfrost was too busy to tune it herself. So she decided to let another bard of some repute tune the clavichord for her."

Sammkit recites:

"This bard, by the name of Oppaknockaty, did an excellent job. Silvyrfrost was indeed pleased with his work."

Sammkit recites:

"It was a year later that the clavichord was once again in need of a tuning, due to the fact that so many novice bards insisted on trying to play the fragile instrument, and ended up just pounding on the keys. Silvyrfrost once again decided to employ the services of the bard Oppaknockaty."

Sammkit recites:

"Unfortunately, when she asked him, he refused saying,

"Ahh, Lady Silvyrfrost, don't you know? Oppaknockaty only tunes once?""

Sammkit grins.

Sammkit ducks his head.

Sammkit asks, "Okies....how 'bout a couple of slightly bawdy limericks?"

Sammkit recites:

"Said a horrid old hag, "Look here honey

I know that I'm wrinkled and funny,

     But get me in bed

With a sack on my head

And I'll give you a run for your money."

(Sammkit grins a big toothy grin)

Sammkit says, "Okie, here's one for ya."

Sammkit recites:

"Said the Cleric to Mother Superior

     "Your singing is quite inferior!"

     She, not to be crass,

     Did show some real class

Said, "Sir, you can kiss my posterior!"

Sammkit smiles and winks at you, wondering if you are a Cleric.

Sammkit exclaims, "Alright everybody, I have another story for ya!"

Sammkit recites:

"Here's a short story about two unlucky Empaths..."

Sammkit recites:

"An Empath couple was captured by some decidedly unfriendly gargoyles, tied together with a long piece of leather and left dangling over a large cliff."

Sammkit recites:

"That evening, the gargoyles danced and chanted around the campfire and as each member passed the leather strap holding the unfortunate Empaths, he gave it a whack with a stick, causing it to weaken a bit more."

Sammkit recites:

"As the chanting grew louder and louder, the husband looked at his wife romantically and said,

"Listen darling. They're fraying our thong!""

Sammkit grins.

Sammkit ducks his head.

Sammkit exclaims, "Wait...Wait! One more story and I'll stop torturing ya!"

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu just arrived.

Sammkit recites:

"Here's a tale 'bout the woes of cutting corners."

Zazu smiles as she taps her bronze hook and gazes at Sammkit.

Sammkit recites:

"Once upon a time there was a young entreprenuer named Tates who wanted to go into business for himself.  He decided that he would mass produce an adventurer's compass."

Sammkit recites:

"Being on a limited budget, Tates figured he would be able to make more money if he spent most of his budget on advertising and only a minimal amount on the compass production."

Sammkit recites:

"His idea worked--all adventurers in the land were buying his inexpensive compass.  After a few months, however, the compasses started to break because of the poor quality."

Sammkit recites:

"This led to the following Elanthian slogan:

"He who has a Tates is lost.""

Sammkit smiles mischievously and dances away from you before you can strangle him.

Sammkit exclaims, "Thank ya all for listening to this humble Reveler!"

Sammkit bows.

(Zazu grabs Sammkit with her Hook and drags him off stage.)

Zazu holds hands with Sammkit.

Mistress of Ceremony Zazu's group went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

Mistress of Ceremony Daedra just arrived.

(Daedra gracefully walks onto the stage. She continues to applaud Asera and Sammkit as she reaches the front stage. She pauses a moment to allow the applause a chance to die down.)

Daedra smiles as she looks at the spot of the now missing hook.

Daedra chuckles.

Daedra asks, "Well we have had some day so far, haven't we?"

Daedra says, "From singers and actors..."

Daedra says, "...to stories and dances..."

Daedra says, "... and even a few jokes."

Daedra giggles.

Daedra says, "And guess what? We aren't stopping there! "

Daedra exclaims, "Let's give a big applaud for all of our performers!"

Daedra applauds.

Daedra says, "You know, bards aren't the only ones who sing around Crossings."

Daedra nods.

Daedra says, "It's true."

Daedra shrugs.

Daedra says, "I've found many singers who were of different guilds and varying orders. It's rather intriguing to hear someone who doesn't do perform for a living. Always lifts my heart to hear a ranger whistle a tune or an empath sing to themselves as they heal those around them."

Daedra says, "Which brings us to our next performer...."

Daedra recites:

"Our next performer is from the Order of White Roses with her own satchel of songs. Ladies and Gentlemen, give a big hand for Inessa."

Daedra applauds.

Daedra smiles happily as she prances off the stage.

Jokester Inessa just arrived.

Mistress of Ceremony Daedra went through some double doors of polished teak trimmed in gold.

[back to Set List]

Inessa cheerfully exclaims, "Good Even and well met, my Lords and Ladies! And everyone else too, of course - even the bards!"

Inessa grins.

Inessa mischievously says, "My name is Inessa d'Larcy - fer those of ye who do not know me. And now I shall attempt to entertain ye witha few songs..."

Inessa smiles broadly at you

Inessa casually observes the area.

Inessa says, "For my first number, I present the first song I ever wrote, way back - still one of my favorites"

Inessa winks.

Inessa exclaims, "for those of ye who have already heard it well...i like it and i'm the one up here, not ye!"

Inessa grins.

Inessa exclaims, "I call it the Rat song and (almost) every word is true!"

(Inessa taps her silver spoons 1-2-3)

(Inessa begins a toe-tapping rhythm on her Silver Spoons)

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"A funny thing happened to me just the other day

I was minding my own business in a bardic sort of way

when I got the bright idea to fight some rats to get some pay

so I hurried down south to the shipyard quay."

(Inessa walks act across the stage, eyes twinkling merrily)

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"I walked south and then southeast and southwest and down

all the rooms were full of people and i started to frown

Then down in the barge I met a lad named Xenendred

who was waiting for rats, so I asked if I could join."

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"He said surely, and we sat there and we waited

but no rats came along as we had anticipated

I decided waiting was boring and overrated

so I asked him if a song would be appreciated."

Inessa winks.

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"Then I opened my mouth and I started to sing

and two minutes later - a rat waltzed in!

Well, we both attacked the creature and we took care of him

and then sat down to wait for his friends to come in."

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"I suggested another song to help us pass the time

and Xenedred told me it would be just fine

so I opened my mouth and put some notes on the line -

then a RAT wandered in as if he read my mind!"

(Inessa opens her eyes wide)

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"Now this was getting creepy and I said - see here

my voice isn't that bad, I'm a bardic peer

So I took out my whistle, to try Xenendred's ear

when a RAT walked in - no joke! you hear?"

(Inessa walks back across the stage keeping time on her Silver Spoons)

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

"He brought along a friend and another made three

all ganging up against poor Xenendred and me!

We fought until exausted and then had to retreat

but in the strangeness of it all, I didn't notice the defeat."

Inessa chants in a soprano voice:

    "Now I know ye'll tell I'm a paranoid blighter

thinkin that the rats find my voice all-righter

but if I can't make my fortune as a musical writer

I can always get a employment as the town pied piper!"

Inessa grins.

(Inessa sweeps her Silver Spoons into a deep curtsy)

Inessa says, "so...a Prydean, a Gor Tog and and Elf walk into a bar and the bartender says..."

Inessa exclaims, "what is this? a joke?!"

Inessa grins.

Inessa exclaims, "er...anyway...on to the next one!"

Inessa gets a well-crafted beribboned tambourine painted with the image of a Prydaen hub from inside her drum pouch.

Inessa gets a black chamois cloth from inside her hooded cloak.

Using her chamois cloth, Inessa dusts off the beribboned tambourine.

Inessa hums an impressive light-hearted tune that leaves you feeling happier for some reason.

Inessa puts her cloth in her hooded cloak.

Inessa says, "so...a Prydean, a Gor Tog and and Elf walk into a bar and the bartender says..."

Inessa snickers.

Inessa asks, "well, i s'pose ye've all heard that one already, hmm?"

Inessa cheerfully sings in a soprano voice:

"Cloudless days that don't ruin my lyre and fluting

empaths that grow back hand stumps, owl hooting

Mud fights and coin tricks and herbs for healing

These are a few of my favorite things!"

Inessa exclaims, "Everybody!"

Inessa kicks one foot out in a graceful arc, and with a dip of her shoulders and a tinkling of toe bells, she pirouettes in a dazzling spin!

Inessa loudly sings in a soprano voice:

    "When the hog bites

      when the croc stings
