Armor Hindrance

Unhindered 0-4
insignificant 5-9
lightly 10-19
fairly 20-29
somewhat 30-39
moderate 40-49
very 50-59
highly 60-69
greatly 70-79
extremely 80-89
Overwhelming 90-99
insanely 100+

This is a example of how many ranks of armor you need to remove a certain degree of hinderence from armor.

Therefor with my iridescent blue hauberk(high), chain balaclava(light) and pair of mesh gilded handguards(fair) the math would be (60 + 20 + 10) * .8 = 72 ranks min. or (69 + 29 + 19) * .8 = 93 ranks max. meaning somwhere between 72-93 ranks I will have trained off as much hinderence as I can with that armor combo.

NOTES:

+ There may be times when the level step will be different between steps, depending on the level of strength and or stamina. It will usually alternate between one pound more or less of the first step after light burden.
# The Rakash are above the Humans, since if they are trained the same, the Rakash will eventually be able to carry more than the Human, using their stamina bonus.
* Gnomes add 1 pound of encumberance strength for about every 2 levels of strength.

One pound = ten stones

Concentration Formula

Concentration has a rather simple formula. If you have 2 parts of it th third part is easy. I have asked several players who want to keep there circle secret what there concentration and disipline is and then suprised them and told them there exact circle. :)

Anyway here it is. I am sure by tomorrow 200 thieves will be testing it :P

CONCENTRATION
(Circle+1) x [(DIS/10)+1]= Concentration

Example: 30th circle & 26 Dis.
30 + 1 = 31
Times 26 disipline divided by 10 is 2.6 + 1 = 3.6
So concentration is 31 x 3.6 = 111

Thief Backstab Critter Progression Chart

For now these come to mind for me. as for a critters in hunting areas and not invasion ones.

Well relivent to myself right now I see critters with backs that can be backstabed around this order.

The level I chose is more in referance to what you can expect by a circle to hide on with somewhat decent success. Since you have to be able to hide on it before backstab can even come into play. Yes you can hide on some of them at lower circles but not alot unless at misle range and you can be pointed out approaching more than is comfortable.

hrmm..can you get me more info on this? Exactly what happens with improved levels? Thanks...

~Ban Tyvalger~

Yes I can... What happens is some dingbat or dingbats make or visit dingbat web pages and begin dingbat rumors. on this weapon, mirror blades and many others...

People can tell them the truth till they turn blue but the interesting thing about a good rumor is people want to believe it and not the truth. Perception becomes there only truth...

Now here or the facts. Not one damn thing happens to its stats and there is not one bit of thief bonus in it... What it does differently is look at your stats like AGALITY and use your stats to give different verb messages. Such as turn, wave and dance. Instead of static verb responses. it gives responses like music playing. With more stats the response is cooler. Now it is compounded again like music verbs and bards in that a thief and another guild of same stats can do same verb but thief gets much cooler result and non thief fumbels more...

Of course that neat fact should never be figgured out because non thieves should not be playing with it's verbs.

There all you ever needed to know about a Palaza and a bag of chips... OH one more huge fact... It is not a Backstab weapon. Was made to heavy for some reason. 36 stones as I recall.

Oh more obscure facts. Me, Aldius and THe first owner of Paleth got ours Balanced and tempered. Mine and Paleths became high fair/reason and Aldius became reason/reason. Aldius retired and his is in a vault on hold for years now. I wanted it so bad!!! No clue what old or new Paleth did with his. I sold mine to a thief for 300 plat around 1.5 years back when much superior forged ME's came about and I outgrew my Palazha. Verbs or neat but not to pack 36 stones around for 3 verbs. Damage and app or what kill the critters and get the exp. not the neat verbs...

Oh I could tell you abit more but then I would have to kill you...

Combat Factors

A older post I use to find very usefull to know about

Category: Clerics --
The Cleric's Altar
Topic: General Discussions
Author: First of Hodierna (LOREN)
Posted: Jul 21, 1998 03:11:15

I attended several seminars, and will cover each subject as I can. First, I attended Zoha's combat seminar, "How to Avoid Critical Hits". What I learned reinforces much that we were learning already. Combat has two major factors. He called them Offensive Force (OF) and Evasion Defense Factor (EDF). We are hit when the attack's OF exceeds the defender's modified EDF. We are damaged when the attack's OF exceeds the modified EDF by an amount greater than can be handled by armor absorption, parry block, shield block, and evasion. Every weapon has a maximum damage potential. This maximum damage potential does not change. Actual damage can be modified by strength, which can double the damage at most; By agility, by weapon skill, and by Luck. Zoha crits really aren't. In the Luck factor, which may or may not modify an attack, there are 'open rolls'. The sort of attack system where, say, if you roll a 6, then you get to roll again. If you roll another six, you roll again, ad infinitum. Zoha said that the open rolls can go on for infinity, theoretically, but that they'd never tracked one that went past four rolls. Even so, that open roll can multiply damage by a factor of four or more. Crits can occur on any attack that does damage. Any attack. But, there is a ramped chance of a crit - they are much more likely to occur as OF exceeds EDF. Those massive open rolls, which can work for players as well as monsters, will give the really interesting crits. Oh, as an aside - the open rolls are also the factor in charge of those random long roundtimes. It is the Luck factor again. Stats and skills have nothing to do with it. <SHEN's NOTE: he's refering to the random roundtimes not the Luck Factor> Combat survival is a matter of maximizing your EDF at all times. Zoha stated what we've learned - Evasion skill is Life. He recommended, openly, that no matter how bad you are at evasion, always, always, maintain Evasion Stance at 100%, because Evasion ranks are just not comparable to Parry and Shield skill. Evasion is the only skill that determines the positive value of the EDF. Just about everything modifies EDF downward. Physical Encumbrance (Load), Armor Encumbrance, Fatigue, Carried Shield, Vitality state, Balance, and Position. EDF is also modified by your Last Action. Last Action is very important. It can change your Balance, Position, and EDF by as much as 80%, apparently. Last Action is the last thing you did before your opponent launched their attack - Parry command, Dodge command, slice, lunge, fall over. Zoha stated as a fact that if you know that the attacker will get to hit you before your next action, the best thing you can do is DODGE. The dodge command is the only last action that lets you generate your maximum EDF. It does have a maneuver penalty, and will change your balance, but is the most effective, most defensive Last Action. PARRY has a negative modifier to EDF when you cannot block fully. Remember, this was a seminar on how to avoid critical hits - how to make sure you don't take the big ones. For priests, what we determined is that the new trend is correct. Priests should not be in the heavier armors. Not ever. There is a transition point for every character class and every armor, except Paladins and Barbarians, where the amount of damage the armor can absorb is no longer worth the negative modifier to EDF. Armor absorbs a fixed maximum, and as you advance out past the critters that do damage under this maximum, you will begin to take harder and harder hits with your heavily-penalized EDF. This is the Gospel Truth. Plate is great when you are fighting things that cannot generate enough OF to get past your armor absorption, but past this point, you can't afford the maneuver penalty. Zoha was very clear on this. Belcor was sitting beside him nodding as well. I'm dusting off my Light Chain ranks. Again, ranks of Shield and Parry just don't compare to Evasion at all. Skill is much more important than stats. Training your reflex up to a nice average level is fine, no need to go overboard if you keep your Evasion skill advancing. But, someone with ungodly Relfex and Evasion is the best defensive hunter around. High-ranking Paladins are going to be pretty close to untouchable aside from the open rolls, if the new critters don't keep up. The open rolls aren't going to go away. They are supposed to keep folks from being 100% invincible to critter they can still learn from. The Luck factor represents entropy - No matter how good you are, you will make a mistake, slip on a stone, stab yourself, if you fight long enough. It's the "There are no old, bold clerics" effect. With the open rolls, something that shouldn't ever get past your armor can occasionally kill you. This is why Rats have kills on their tally, even though, as Zoha said, they can't generate enough OF to kill anything.

Note the term LUCK factor associated with the 'open rolls' over and over again. Zoha says there are no worthless stats...and somewhere around here I've got notes indicating Zoha or Trev stating directly in a seminar that charisma impacts luck. I've known players who've done some research (though I haven't bothered to verify it). But I suppose that means nothing too, so I'm done. I'm open to rebuttal with current DATA only, just saying it ain't so isn't going to cut it with me.

Bottom line things will change as the game goes along, and GM Damissak has indicated his position. I'm satisfied.

Regards,

Shendorian

Yes it is very true that DISIPLINE aids BURDEN

You see Disipline besides what all else it does Was well known to me to do:

1/2 of what a STAMINA point will and
1/2 of a INTELLIGENCE point will

I am not as certin on the 1/2 of what INT will any more after learning tweeks but it did at one time expand your pool 1/2 as much as 1 INT point would.

Anyway it is proven better back in the day when you could see health points or hit points as I am to use to calling them...

1 point of Stamina gives you 2 hit points, 1 point of Disipline gives you 1 hit point. Take a new player out of manager and get them to ight burden then go train Disipline a few times and watch them drop below light burden to NONE...

One Way to Learn Armor

I lock all armor just fine.

Shield Usage: 135 21%
Leather Armor: 196 90%
Light Chain: 196 81%
Heavy Chain: 79 27%
Light Plate: 93 92%
Heavy Plate: 82 79%

I can lock them all at same time as well... Now my leather and LC ranks or the highest. So I have to wear armor with hinderance higher in those two to allocate larger exp to them.

My working combo:

Shard Leather breastplate:
CERTAIN: breastplate appears to impose fair maneuvering hindrance.
moderate/moderate
moderate/moderate
good/moderate
average strength

Forged LC vambrances:
Must be 99 stones or less to be LC
CERTAIN: vambraces appear to impose light maneuvering hindrance.
good/good
moderate/good
good/good
fairly sturdy

Forged HC gloves:
CERTAIN: gloves appear to impose insignificant maneuvering hindrance.
good/good

Forged HP Greaves:
CERTAIN: greaves appear to impose insignificant maneuvering hindrance.
high/great
great/great
good/great
well constructed

Forged LP Armet Helm:
CERTAIN: helm appear to impose insignificant maneuvering hindrance.
good/good
good/good
low/good
moderatly strong

Shield:
Just pull one out and turn evasion off in a swarm.

Now I am armor tert. And that combo works all my armors fine with my present ranks since leather and LC pieces I wear have highest hindrance. I actually lock them all at about the same time. It is a hobby to do that though. If I hunt serious I use some better Leather and a much better LC shirt. and just train those 2 swapping them as I lock each one.

Hey I have no armor ranks to droll over but as a tert skill I am proud of my success and been at it awile now.

Soim

P.S. But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently lightly hindered.

Now thats a thief with decent penalaties to wearing plate and chain and lightly is not to bad. Most guilds can get even lower overall.

hmm have not read this folder in over a month but was scimming it today....

I have not worked crossbow in nearly 2 years now for the most part. I have worked it 3 to 5 ranks past few months tinkering since TC Museum new ones came out but was just using one...

This is my old 3 worn crossbow script....

Sort of crude for what I could do to it now but as I recall it worked fine.

ON the Strength Question.... While you are at it soim, can you give an opinion on str and LX?

SURE.... LX's or all pretty much 75 stones in hand. and around 22 to 37 stones worn dependent on your race. But I think your asking what strengh is a good goal to shot for to get good damage results. Well by the time to have strength to work all all burden and get the MIN weapon RT's you desire you will have plenty enough to hit hard with LX. I see people with 15 strength and people with 50+ strength all get DEVS. Skill is what you seek more than strength...

**************

Starkad looks like a nich short utility script to fire 3 crossbows but I assure you if you remove third cross you pretty much have to wear third cross. same with sacks and pouches and the like. Unless you drop it and pick it back up... The one I posted is semi crude but fires 3, wears them, reloads them draws a meele weapon and collects the bolts. Unless you abort it first... Least that what I seem to remember writing it to do a long time ago... Works for HX or LX or should...
